Am I right in thinking that flash memory has only a finite number of write cycles? I don't know how many these are on average - I've heard as low as 500,000 - but I get the impression a flash drive being used as a hard drive, under normal use, will have a very limited lifespan.
I travel fairly often and have a pretty extensive music collection on record and CD (around 1000 CDs and about half that of records). I personally like to have ALL or as much of this music with me whenever possible. My MP3 player is only a 20 gig Creative Zen, however I would like a larger capacity player, simply because I could then store all or most of my music (should I get round to ripping it all).
When I do travel, it tends to be for months at a time rather than a couple of weeks and so it's not practical carrying 1000 CDs and 500 records.
It's not about listening to 40 days continuous music but having the music to hand.
Currently I know there's always going to be a time when I want to listen to a particular song or band and I don't have it with me. Had my MP3 player had a 120 gig hard drive, then I know I could take all my music with me.
Do you own one? I do, and own both those games. The load time isn't even close to 1.10. And loading time from power on to gameplay of 2 minutes? What a load of rubbish. Need For Speed is a great game! It's not been taken out of my PSP in a week.
Probably it would be even better to let the users decide that, or even both. Just so bands don't go listen everything that vaguely sounds like them, just to get more people to try them...
I'm not 100% sure how it works, I was just guessing that the artist enters a selection of other bands/artists they sound like when submitting their profile. But you're absolutely right, it would be a very useful addition to the online music services if they offered the downloader an option to specify alternative/similar artists for other users of the site, and you make more sense than letting the band/artist do this, if that indeed is how HXCMP3.COM works.
Oh, and seeing that you and I may be into the same kind of music, maybe you can help me. I was looking for some tough rock music with nice melodic/classical interludes, like some songs by Cradle of Filth have. Can you recommend me any?
I could probably recommend Sikth, who are a british metal band, quite melodic in parts. Their album, The Trees Are Dead & Dried Out is fantastic and well worth checking out!
I'm not sure if it's your taste in music (hardcore punk/metal/post-hardcore), but if you take a look at http://www.hxcmp3.com/ they have a "sounds like" field in their search. Chances are it'll be nothing overly clever, simply the bands who upload their music suggest if you like XXX band, you'll probably like them. But all the same, more music download sites should do this.
Your car metaphor is a rubbish one. Name one car manufacturer that voids the warranty when you open the hood? How would you put oil in it for starters?

Does anyone have any links to making a "halo movie"? This quite interests me and my xbox need to do something new; it's getting bored playing games.

amazing!
I'd go as far as to say I've NEVER had a BSOD with XP in 3 or 4 years of use. It's locked up once or twice but never blue screened.
