When my roommate put his laptop on our LAN he had a ton of interesting music he had bought from Itunes. I couldn't listen to most of it since it was password protected. It was a pain to me. I didn't even plan to make a copy of it, just listen to it.

Malhavoc's psionic splats are good. They are produced with the help of the same guy who made the official Wizards' supplements. They are nice and balanced, and I like them. I wonder if some of Malhavoc stuff will find its way into the Complete Psionics book coming out in the spring.

Your bit about faith is partly right. ITYM, "belief". Belief is holding something true regardless of examination. Faith is a bedrock you stand on. It doesn't have to have anything to do with religion. I have faith in my 5 senses. I do not need to believe in them.

When I was 12 or so and learning about environmental doom I had this vision of building these giant floating electrolysis machines that would float in the atmosphere above the clouds, powered by the sun, and perhaps the hydrogen it would generate. Thus, repair of the ozone layer by techno magic. They would be blimps, of course, like autonomous weather baloons.

  7. Can Sony even fix it? on DVD Jon's Code In Sony Rootkit? · · Score: 1

Why is it taking so long to release an uninstaller that can cleanly remove the rootkit? What if the delay is because it can't be done? What if the damage is permanent? Yes, Mark Russinovich was the first to say how to safely disarm it, but Sony needs to provide a way to remove the thing completely. If it can't be done, and we're talking about forcing reinstalls of Windows and OSX and whatever OS this Rootkit can interface with, then just how screwed is Sony?

  8. How are Sony's stocks doing? on DVD Jon's Code In Sony Rootkit? · · Score: 1

I want to know if this is impacting their stock prices. Likely trading in Sony was on the up as the PS3 launch gets closer. Are the business savvy types thinking of jumping ship? What about shareholder meetings? I bet there are some angry stockholders out there.

Why do some many comments on slashdot slam parents? Is this a cultural thing? Is it a cool meme that everyone wants to promote? I don't understand. I am a parent. I know many parents. In fact, my parents were parents. All of them try their best, myself included, to do the hardest job in the world. Also, so many people slam the teenagers, or decry how the young people are taking over. Do you realize how whiny and cliche it is for the OLD to point fingers at the young? BTW, movie theatres cost around $30 in Ottawa, and that's Canadian dollars! Moreover, the kids I see movies with are better behaved than how others have portrayed in their respective cities. Must be better parenting.
