I never bombed anyone like this, stalking them across slashdot and claiming crazy things about their gender.
Also, you're still talking bullshit because this isn't about whether HOSTS or tcpip loads on boot, it's about whether AdBlock uses it at all (which it doesn't) and the requests to local webservers caused by HOSTS! Shut up and go away you smelly trollbag! lol I love seeing you angry.
Where's the developers of Firefox to correct you when you need them? I don't care about tcpip.sys and all that, and neither does AdBlock - which uses it's own list during page parsing, yes, just after the 1st DNS for the page and then before parts (ie ads and plugins) are loaded (and do their own DNS). Before!!!
Also, other people have told you before that your silly methods poll local webservers. i.e. 10-30 seconds for each element in your HOSTs file rubbish.
Give it up, apk, you're old hat. And black hat at that, with all your screaming abuse.
Now you're proving what you're all about stupid apk.
First you tried to prove me wrong about AdBlock - and you're still wrong, you're so stupid and old that you haven't even read and understood that AdBlock prevents the browser from even using the OS to lookup anytning!
Also, your condescending assumption that I know nothing. I'm so sick of it. Take a look at yourself, scumbag, you're the one doing all the cyberstalking here!
Oh, and I've been trying to hold off on this one because of the potential backlash - but out of the HOSTS troll with the lies and the bold who's been getting modded down? Now I haven't even HAD mod points since we started arguing again, and yet I'm still posting at +2 and being modded up to 5. Do enough people like you that you can do that? No. They're modding you down, which is making you angry. Fuck off. You're making my posts look untidy.
Two factors have caused this - one, the assumption that those with the knowledge to cause havok have better things to do with their time, and two, the assumption by manufacturers that factory floor equipment will be physically seperated from the public (and by implication, the Internet).
All the changes that have resulted in this situation or probably very recent (10 years), and are in situations where legacy networks and equipment have been bolstered by or re-connected with new stuff by young IT-types, not engineers, who probably had no idea all the industrial stuff wasn't secured!
That's already been pointed out by others as a very bad counter-example. The body provides about a third of the lift on the types of aircraft. We were talking about flying buses, not rocket jets.
Thank you, it was a little tongue-in-cheek but having read the following dicussion it's surprisingly on-target.
To summarise
a) Every plane (except those which have significant body lift - not the "flying buses" as one low UID put it) which loses a wing crashes, there and then, with little choice of where.
b) Fires can be put out. Planes can land with a fire on board.
c) The regulations dictate that the batteries should fail-safe, that is, should they overheat they would be placed outside the pressure capsule.
I learned all that thanks to my tongue-in-cheek comment, and so did everyone who read the thread. The negative comments are worth it:-)
| "onboard fires on airplanes are as bad as it gets"
Hmm... I'm sure a missing wing, or rapid loss of pressure due to a collision, or massive power failure, or lots of other things could be a lot worse than a battery fire.
Am I correct in assuming TFA doesn't know what on earth (or off it) they're on about?
Hypnotoad would be better than Coronation Street and Eastenders. It violates human rights conventions, but it looks so much more interesting on the screen. And it's cheaper than all those wax dummies we use now. They are wax dummies aren't they? I mean, they can't be people. Can they?
1) your ranting and diatribe have completely ignored the point I made about the plug-ins coming before the OS stack when it comes to WHETHER to do a DNS request (thru the OS) at all!
2) I haven't even had mod-points since you started all this down-modding ranting, hasn't it occurred to you that I'm correct on the on-topic tech subject and that you're trolling? I told you, I don't even bother modding you down when I do moderate.
OK, I'm going to explain something us "web-browser developers" know that you OS types obviously didn't know.
Our web-browser thingies have something called a plug-in architecture, which is now an integrated part of rendering a web page. Plugins can be called on each type of resources embedded on a page, or all of them, and can even be run on resources after another plugin has run.
AdBlock is one of those plug-ins. After Seamonkey (or Firefox) has fetched a HTML document, the parser sends each URL to AdBlock for processing. AdBlock's list of user- and community-defined blocked URL's is ready and waiting in RAM, and AdBlock will remove and prevent the browser from processing the URL. Instead, it places a placeholder on the page instead of another plugin, an image from the ad-farm, or whatever.
So the point I've made all along is that AdBlock isn't actually using the Operating System's DNS stack to block at all - it appears in the execution cycle before the DNS query or the fetch.
Also, this is the same on any and all client OS - Win, Lin, And, iOs etc.
I still don't know what the real origin of all this "cyclops" stuff and animosity about Barbara Hudson is, and I'm not sure why she is so horrible and stubborn with you, either. I arrived as tongue-in-cheek amateur troll and attempted to play my normal role of peacemaker; but with colourful language and idioms to try to draw others in to help resolve the feud. It backfired.
As for HOSTs, give it, up you can't burn anyone.
Adblock: Web Page Parser -->URL Analyzer -->Plugins ||| BLOCK
HOSTs: Web Page Parser -->URL Analyzer -->Plugins --> DNS Lookup --> Process HOSTS file (sometimes in RAM) -->Timeout Period for Local Webserver (10-30secs) ||| BLOCK = Slower.
Hope you can handle that - not personal. And not a troll. To be honest if you're done your Google-sleuthing you'll see I've matured and become even more "white hat" IRL then ever. I'm simply not the character you were thinking I was.
I can tell you now that despite making that dreadfully meaningless threat to do so, I have never AC trolled you about HOSTs. I can also honestly say that I've never downmodded you.
I don't have sock-puppet accounts, and I am not Barbie Hudson. I was "around" when she was for a few weeks because I stumbled on a flame war that encompassed issues that are important to me (respect, gender politics, and computing) and was "dangling my toes" into the "white-hat trolling" role, here and nowhere else.
However, I may argue with you about HOSTs files and *NIX, and even as to whether you Microsofties are more like Borg / Cybermen than I, lol... but I will do, as I always have done, under my own single Slashdot username, this one.
Hey, come on! I trolled you yonks ago with what I thought at the time to be righteous reasons, and haven't trolled you for ages (I seriously was just pointing out bad form - whilst admitting I'm not perfect.)
This all started because I completely disagreed about the use of HOSTs as compared to Adblock or similar, and you started personally insulting someone I know. Now, you're doing the same to me.
Defend myself, I'm a stalker. Ignore you, people might think you were correct. What a dilemma. You're one evil, uncaring guy, apk. Security tools = positive change? Try www.timberrecycling.org for positive change. Or www.manchester.gov.uk/elections. Or call Greater Manchester Police and ask them about Rachel Wilson. If they say they've never heard about me, mention Operation Protector, or Operation Foot. They've heard of those, and will be able to look up my details quick enough.
I find you ego-centric list of challenges disturbing. How, as you quite rightly point out, could I have the experience you have when you were born first, went to what seems like decent schools and colleges, and actually had friends and good teachers as a child? You have taken no time or care at all to ensure what you are saying is relevent to me at all. Why should I care? I know I'm a good person, and admitting to teasing you about HOSTS (Which everyone here does, because it's a PLAIN STUPID solution to a common problem!) does not make me a stalker at all.
In fact, I'd welcome any investigation into such because it would simply prove that I'm not Tomhudson, and that you are assuming you're talking to me when I'm not even there. I checked the link and parent, and no, that's not me.
Bullshit, most of that. You're so wordy, and you've got it so wrong. Fortunately, I have an IRL to go back to that encourages me to contribute positive change around me (unlike this place and people like you).
Thanks for ruining my evening after I simply told someone it was bad form to drag you down to that level after you posted something positive.
"Screw you, apk, and the horse you rode in on. If I ever see you post here again, I'll bomb you as AC from Tor, meaning I'll NEVER run out of posts because I can change endpoint."
You know damn well I posted this in anger because you were accusing me of doing it anyway, and of being "Barbie". You, and anyone else who can read this, will notice that I posted with my UID and when I do post I don't post AC. I have posted embarassing stuff about myself IRL to prove this incorrect but instead you used this against me, making assumptions about my gender makeup and whether I am who I say I am.
I extended an olive branch, and you abused it by ranting at Barbie telling him/her she was me or vice versa. So who's the troll, apk??
Here, another olive branch to prove I'm not Barbie, go do a whois on www.rachelwilson.net.

Will it have arms and hands to do the dishes?? I'm in... OH wait, if it gets hacked it could attack me while I'm using "manual mode"...
That's already been pointed out by others as a very bad counter-example. The body provides about a third of the lift on the types of aircraft. We were talking about flying buses, not rocket jets.
This device could form part of his rehabilitation. ;-)

1st off, it's Madame, not sir.
2nd off, every plane with two wings that lost a wing crashed. Not every plane that ever had a fire on it crashed. Go figure.
What's with the attacks too, who's an idiot now?
Simple logic puts your links to shame.

Yeah, he could at least idolize one with a three-letter UID - ~Jeremiah Cornelius. Have *some* class...
So how big, in Libraries of Congresses, is the archive that they're adding from Twitter, to said Library of Congress?
I'm a lazy editor. I have
