    Well, it appears someone, possibly Google, has taken down this game. It's the reason I read this far, and I'm quite surprised that nobody cared enough about this issue 3 days later that nobody checked and posted this fact before me. Therefore, I should get more Insightful mods than anybody else on this thread, but we'll see...

    What does the computer you're using have to do with your choice of nick? Did you mean "sick of this computer lark"?

    Or are you referring to slashdot's servers, which will forever remember your original nick? Or is there something else I'm not getting - this could, of course, be way over my head, as you do seem to have an ultra-low UID thing going on there...

    Yes, but I was actually illustrating that Sophos has a very long history of writing quality bug-free software for mission-critical environments, like Governments, Educational Institutions, and large corporations.

    The chances of their software not functioning as intended and screwing up systems or backups are far smaller than their lesser counterparts, Symantec et al, and the whole article smells of Troll Fat.

    Sophos DID hardly slow the systems down at all, it maxed out 1% CPU time most of the time, and flagged "dodgy" executables as they landed in the network share, before allowing Windows even to load icons from them. I realising I'm biting YET ANOTHER troll, but what else is there that one can do to fight bullshit and misinformation? Anybody else got experience using Sophos in an NT4 Workstation / Server environment "back in the day" wanna back me up?

    Compared to Norton, Symantec, and the other system-strangling solutions available for virus detection, Sophos is definitely the leading provider. When I was at college (10 years ago), their software scanned everything coming in and going out, and yet hardly slowed the systems down at all (yes, if you had a local machine Admin account you could end the process and prove this!)

    I would be surprised if this turned out to be true.

    The Radeon 5870 is a single-GPU card, as is the Geforce GTX 580. The 5970 is a dual-GPU card, and so can't be fairly compared to the NVidia board.

    The article compares ATi's fastest single GPU card (their "flagship") to NVidia's fastest single GPU card, and finds NVidia's to be faster.

    So far, all the comments are based on the assumption that this is a malicious app. However, my husbands / wifes property is also my property, therefore I can install whatever I want to spy on him / her.

    I am also entitled to send private investigators to investigate his / her extramarital relations, which includes legally taking pictures from a public place into his / her new partner's windows to prove impropriety. I can use this evidence in court to procure a favourable divorce settlement.

    So what, exactly, is the problem with this app, Google? My right to legally investigate my partner is being taken away, possibly illegally, if all apps of this type are removed.

    lol I'm not implying that I do. In fact, I am without problems of this kind, including Norton and other forms of malware... However, we all know the dancing monkey problem by now, and I was merely illustrating that there's no way to discern between the two methods of recieving malware available with current browsers.

    This is stupid. Consider the following scenarios:

    1) I use Firefox to dl malware on purpose. I double click on it in download manager, and answer yes. BROWSER launches the process. It installs.

    2) I am hit by a drive-by website. BROWSER launches the process. It installs.

    How the hell is this vapourware supposed to know the difference between my clicks and the browsers imaginary clicks? (for want of a better metaphor...)
