This is a not-so-official Google reply - "It will do no evil".
-- Will it pick up hitchhikers? This is an option available in the comprehensive Android for Cars(TM) Options screen. It is set "Off" by default for passenger safety.
-- Will it courteously let people pull out who have been waiting? Using a variation on BitTorrent P2P technology, Android for Cars(TM) will auto-negotiate with other Car-OSs (including Windows 9 for Cars and Linux) priorities based on waiting time and resultant collective fuel efficiency to assign priorities.
-- Will it flick-off people who drive 30 under?
Android for Cars(TM) will predict the path and speed of all non-AI traffic based on it's currert course and the layout of terrain ahead. It will likely overtake and ignore most slower traffic, unless there is a risk in doing so.
-- Will it flick-off people who drive 30 over?
Android for Cars(TM) will predict the path and speed of all non-AI traffic based on it's currert course and the layout of terrain ahead. It will likely ignore and allow faster traffic to pass, unless there is compensation to be had. See "Legal Destruction of Road Traffic" in the Reference Manual.
-- Will it flicker brights to warn of speed traps?
Android for Cars(TM) complies with all National and State Laws regarding speeding and speed control. Google ourselves have a "Do No Evil" policy. For both these reasons, Android for Cars(TM) will ignore speed traps and law enforcement and meatbag's reactions to them.
-- Will it pull over for emergency vehicles?
Android for Cars(TM) incorporates two systems which will effectively provide for this situation. First, faster moving traffic is given priority anyway, and emergency vehicles running Android for Emergency Vehicles(TM) can signal direct commands to your vehicle.
-- Will it draft large semis?
Google failed to understand your question. Please retype or rephrase you enquire. Back to Google Android for Cars(TM) Home.
-- Will it bring me hookers and blackjack?
Google Android for Cars(TM) can and will run in completely automated mode, completing assigned journeys efficiently. However, identification of such subjective things as "Hookers" and "Blackjack" will require an independent Bending Unit, a supplementary control system, available seperately from Mom's Friendly Robot Company.
-- Also, who receives the citation in the event of a stop?
As legal "Owner" and "Operator" of the car, you do. This is why we provide full source...
Well if you are watching, read the troll I refer too, then read my "innocent" follow up regarding URL shorteners, all available straight from/. org's ~ webmistressrachel page!
Also, I love the Hackers reference in the first reply to your post... thanks hun!
I, webmistressrachel, real girl and real troll, posted my first first post as AC, and you called shenaganigans - and you were WRONG! YHBT!!! Tut tut Rachel... after that horrible BJ troll I posted recently, too...
So you have a newer, better coded, more reliable social networking site ready to take up their slack? If not, sir, I doubt very much that your world domination will come to fruition...
Exactly, as I mentioned earlier, but below, just paint the target with the red dot. Simple. If they try to patent this idea for 3d games, my prior art's all over/. lol...
On a real weapon, the laser "paints" the target - it looks as though it's actually on the spot where the bullet will hit. Simulate this, problem solved.
How dare you take advantage of people's propensity to not RTFA by casting false aspersions on the authors in this way. In reply
1) The article is more fact-laden and longer than most articles we publish here
2) The well-established authors and institutions names are there for all to see - no PR, just science!
3) You are a Republican sock-puppet and you and your kind have been holding back the whole of humanity since the Enlightenment just so you and your families can make a fast buck!
Let the flames envelop me, this was one shady lie too far!!! There is no truth whatsoever in the parent's post, but I am willing to bet he'll get modded up and I'll be modded into Oblivion for my tendency to fly off the handle over these things! That's OK, it's my favourite place anyway, I especially like Cheydinhal...
Anonymous Coward should learn to spell "commas" properly. While I'm at it, I'm patenting Spelling Nazism, I'll probably make more than those patenting Grammar Nazism above!
I call a bluff - 32 cores taking 90 minutes to boot all services? Hmmm... what are you the NSA? I doubt it...
Also, your strategy prevents you from finding out if cold boot still works or not, which I am sure you would want to do quite regularly, also, just when do you flush all those buffers? Let's say you have megs and megs of them on this 16 and 32 core machine, 4Meg per core at least, what would happen to your data integrity if your never reboot? I doubt that cache or buffer is parity, even if it is very fast, so do you have problems with data corruption on these "oracle and sybase" servers?
Unless you can translate this to English, mods, how do you even know if it's offtopic? It COULD be questions about the venue, followed by an enthusiastic statement of intentions to attend... would that be "Offtopic" ?
My HP tx2530ea (dual Turion64 X2 Ultra @ 2.1) with ATI Radeon HD 3200 rocks Oblivion at 20-60fps, Fallout 3 at just a little less, X3 Reunion, and Far Cry 2 all without burning my lap, whilst charging. I have it with me and on, 24/7.
It also offers a sexy swivelling touchscreen and "book-in-bed-mode"... Acer could do a lot better. I bet this thing has Intel graphics and still gets hotter than my tablet! My last Acer was hotter, definitely. I traded it for this. (for the record, it was a 5920 with Intel X3100 graphics)
I must be Gelatinous Finger Woman then, cos I've been using CTRL-SHIFT-ESC with my left hand (thumb ctrl forefinger shift pinky esc) since Windows 2000 offered it to me that way! Another one I can do one-handed several ways is CTRL-ALT-DEL, I won't bore you with the description though.
Of course, I may have this gift due to typing and playing the organ (church organ, guys!!) since I was six. But at least I can now say that I must be "GFW" since I never even realised there was an easier way!
They're in the same place in XP and 2000, under Control Panel > Network Connections > Choose an Adaptor > Right Click > Properties > Select TCP/IP > Choose Properties > Thank you. Rachel x
This is as trolly as I get today and it's Informative too...
Don't know why you posted this AC, you have a good point. I Alt-Tab, Alt-F, S, Ctrl-P, Start, U, Tab, Tab, Tab, Type a Reason... Return faster than most people can shut a server 2003 box running nothing at all with the mouse.
I get wound up starting a setup program or utility that just won't let me do anything at all without the mouse. In situations like this, i stubbornly use "dead rodent mode" to click Next > with my keyboard anyway!
You actually have to veer from default interface guidelines to prevent the user from selecting Next > with the TAB key, but some programmers manage it anyway!! What gives?
"women still bleed for no freakin' reason"... the occasion you seem to be referring to is NOT bleeding as you know it at all, it's a monthly cycle of cleaning and renewal. And although it is painful, and ugly, a lot of women still see the menstrual cycle as the gift it is - the ability to create a miracle.
As for all the other stuff about God vs. Lucifer - you're correct, "He's an absentee landlord! Worship that? Never!"
At least I know where I stand with the devil, well, I tend to kneel, actually... (use your imagination, boys!)
Yes I am, this is exactly what I said all along. I have to be credit checked for the account with the debit card, I have on with a bit of plastic for the atm with no chip and pin and no debit use.
I also have to be credit checked, via a debit card, to transfer an existing contract, opened by me as a director of a company, to me.
Its disgusting. I will look into the 02 Thing tho, but I doubt I could use that to pay vodafone, that would be funny, ironic, but satisfactory!! Rachel x
I'm sorry, but I can't see where I move the goalposts, and I also hereby give you an apology for some of my ranting anyway since you comment mentions "what I am worth".
You can probably see the issue clearer now, but I still don't think it's down to my budgeting. Did you read the other threads that stem out above? I didn't tell the WHOLE story at first, but it is unfair and I just wish somebody (or loads of people) had posted similar experiences and a discussion leading toward a change would have occurred.
I apologise again for being ranty I hate this thread now. I am going to type the whole story, without the ranting, and put it up as an Ask Slashdot, hopefully I'll either get positive criticism or help. Hopefully, people will see that it is happening, but that it is quiet, and that there must be others, millions of them, on less money than I am!!
Why would he want to do that? If he did that, then the cost of using the internet would go up, and his movie trolls would get torrented less and... well... that's all, really.
