"instant" meaning at the speed of light? It's theoretically impossible to transfer information any faster than that.

  2. N770 is not mobile or a phone on RIM Firing (Nearly) Everybody · · Score: 1

It's not a phone form factor. It didn't even have GSM or GRPS and required wifi or usb to connect to the internet. It wasn't the first wifi tablet, either. The first Maemo based device which even has the ability to function without being near wifi is the N900, released in 2009, 2 years after the first iphone went on sale.

TFT means Thin Film Transistor, and from what I understand is a method of manufacturing transparent electronics behind the display. If it's still an e-ink display, those transistors will presumably only be powered on when it's time to flip the capsules.

Why not make people super strong so we can run/walk/bike more and reduce the need for vehicles and trucks? Perhaps instead of engineering us to hate meat, engineer us to better handle large quantities of sugar, so we can eat cake and cookies all the time. Improve our eyesight so we can see without nearly as much electric lighting. Strengthen our ability to sweat so we're comfortable with less air conditioning. If you're going to do this, there are a lot of ways you could go. Making people have a distaste for beef seems like a really odd way to about it.

There are no laws that prevent you from doing this. You just have to keep those cars on your own private property instead of on the socialist roads that are provided to you for "the good of the whole".

We could easily solve this by privatizing all roads and making them toll roads and letting businesses decide if they require these safety features to allow you on their roadways.

  25. Guns aren't that useful in an urban setting on NYPD Developing Portable Body Scanner For Detecting Guns · · Score: 1

I'm all for the rights to carry weapons. In a big city though, I recommend against it as they seem to cause more problems than they solve. If someone is jumps out at you from around a corner to mug you, you probably won't have time to pull out your weapon. Most likely they'll just steal it and use it to commit a crime. Alternately, if you do have some warning, you have the option of getting in a shooting spree with several other armed people, possibly injuring those around you. Your best bet is still to give up the $50-100 in your wallet and have them leave you unharmed. I don't buy that they deter crime at all because most of the guns that criminals use are stolen from law abiding citizens who clearly were not helped by owning them. People are stupid and don't lock up their guns when they're not home, then they get robbed while not home and a criminal uses their stolen weapon to rob or kill.
