That's well and good for people in careers where that's feasible. If you are trained to be a nurse or a school teacher, its really not practical to "start your own business" now is it?

I disagree that it looks bad on your resume to have left a company that then went bust. If a company goes bust because of a single employee leaving, then they are poorly managed. If you left shortly before they went bust, that shows you have a good head on your shoulders and were able to sense that the company was heading down.

Sorry, but I and all of my Gen-X neighbors cook decent meals and sit down to supper every evening with our families. We police our children's diets, and we only scarf down a bag of Doritos once a month or so -- as a cool treat.

If anything, we're stricter on our kids than our parents were. My mom never purposefully bought "organic" food -- there was no such products in the 80s. Sometimes, they gave us cupcakes or cookies at school! (gasp!) I was allowed Kool-aid whenever I wanted it. Heaven forbid I let my kid take a peanut-butter sandwich to school, but they actually used to serve that to us in the cafeteria! And they cut the peanut butter with honey!

    Time for a car analogy.

If someone hot-wires my car, and then rams it into a police station, then I'm not liable. The car manufacturer is not liable. The police are not liable. As a matter of fact, its not even my fault if I left the doors unlocked and the engine running. The person responsible is the bastard that stole it and did the damage.

These viruses and botnets are not spontaneous. They are not random acts of nature. They happen because of bad guys doing bad things. We should all take reasonable precautions, but we shouldn't be held liable for their actions.
