The article says that they're using PPAR-delta to change the muscle tissue to the high endurance kind. It also says that one of the things that PPAR-delta can be used for is to instruct cells to burn off fat but it doesn't really say that they're using it for both purposes. So my question is: are we they going to be left with a bunch of people with good muscle tone that are still fat because they didn't exercise?
Also, I'd like to point out that we can't even safely make something taste sweet. Why would anyone think something that has this sweeping effects like this is going to be safe?
How about when it stops looking like it could be a gerbil or a puppy? Seriously, life probably does begin at conception but who cares? If there's a fertilized egg in a dish, you can't make someone put it in her body, she gets a choice. So if an egg gets fertilized by knockin boots, she should still get a choice. Four months should be enough time to decide. Once that time has passed, you missed your opportunity to decide. If life is so priceless that we had to protect it at all costs, we'd ban cars and eliminate traffic deaths, but we won't.
I agree, the old radio commercials are a lot more tolerable than todays commercials. They where more straight forward and honest. "We think our product is great, you should try it" is better than "we've got 5000 psychologists with PHDs and we're going to manipulate you into being our corporate bitch". These days they're either trying to mind intercourse you, or Billy Mays is absolutely SHOUTING AT YOU - jerk. Those old commercials were more respectful.
This is slashdot. What it REALLY means is that the article summary is wrong Agreed. The summary chops off the end of the statement, changing it's meaning. The article changes the way it states percentages. It should have either said switch grass gets you 540% of the energy used to produce it and corn gets you 124% or switch grass gets you a net 440% and corn gets you 24%. Now somebody can correct me because I feel like I'm missing something on the semantics here, but I'm probably still less misleading than the article.
Am I missing something here? One of the links to the Taipei Times quotes a spokesman from Seagate saying "Yes, the drive is formatted, but I have never heard of a virus that lives in the master boot record." Wow, that's reassuring.
I wonder where is the "confiscated laptops" auction going to be held.
Guantanamo, If no one can make the opening bid, they'll store them there.
