The problem is that so-called piracy rates have no basis in fact. They count any lost sale as piracy, based on what the game "ought" to have sold. Boycotting and pirating have the same effect really.
I agree that it's a problem, but the sad truth is that facts are not relevant - especially when there are a dozen eager "security" vendors constantly telling PHB's how bad things are, and how much they're "needed".
Indeed. From the screen shots, I can see that it's on track to be more or less true to form. Take what MS has done, make it uglier and awkward to use if possible, then proudly proclaim feature compatibility.
Eh? What monopoly? There are three other major players in the smart phone market. People have plenty of choice -- the problem is that so many are choosing this platform, restrictions and all;)
The problem is that there are a number of people who see these restrictions as a Good Thing when they learn about them - those who want to Do It For Your Own Good. Fortunately, this group is very limited -- it consists merely of Democrats, Republicans, Libertarians, and Parents.
therefore, to combat child pornography, I'll be pirating StarCraft II.
Well, sure, because that doesn't help to support the ridiculous case made for "losses" due to piracy and justify (to them) the need for anti piracy measures. Why not just... you know... do without if you don't like what they're doing?
Every time a big game company makes a decision like this, or to go with some draconian DRM, etc - there are always doomsayers coming out of the woodwork saying that they're done, out of business, etc. Funny thing is - those companies are still here. And people still buy the products in droves.
I daresay that the number of people who want to play the latest games - no matter the outrages - vastly outweighs the number of people who a) care and b) care enough to deprive themselves.
You think that one person will completely saturate a broadband connection? Gosh, I hope they were the tiniest bit smarter than that in developing the network protocol;)
Excellent point; though from reading that, I'd be hard-pressed to see where twitter is doing what they claim it is doing. It sounds like they're challenging twitter's ability to send text messages (ie, messages to devices about new 'tweets') but...
iii. response data comprising:
1. user response information that indicates individual user contact devices have received the message; and
2. response information that indicates when insufficient user contact device information exists to contact the user contact devices;
wherein the administrator initiates distribution of the message using the grouping information, priority information, and the priority order, and wherein the message is transmitted through at least two industry standard gateways simultaneously,
Where's the second simultaneous gateway used when "insufficent user contact device information" notification is sent? For that matter, when nis "insufficient user contact device informatioN" sent at all? And the device itself does not notify the twitter service that it has received the message... Too, there's no user-selected priority order of device contact -- you can either choose to send to your "device" or not send.
Aside from that: the people turning to twitter as a notification system for their mission critical applications deserve everything they have coming - they'll come back to companies like the patent troll here when they realize how important reliability is.
Weight and battery life are two prime considerations in what I consider a netbook. Size is pretty much ok up to 10-11", maybe 12" though that's pushing it. But if the first two don't make it, to me that makes it a laptop and not a netbook.
At 3+ pounds and battery life range between 90 minutes and an advertised 4 hours, the LT3103 ain't a netbook.
It's funny and a little sad how the first response of so many people to things (or viewpoints) that they don't understand is to be as abrasive as possible. For some reason, this is even more exaggerated in the self-styled nerd population. As if stating a belief insultingly will make it more true -- or at least dissuade others from disagreeing.
Armchair psychology aside, if you don't see it I'm not sure that I can explain it. When collective marketing departments change the meaning of a word in order to sell more product - not once, but repeatedly - I find it offensive.
But I wasn't asking anyone except me to care about what it was called. So - time to unbunch your panties and take a deep breath. These things just don't matter that much.
if the problem is what it is to solve -- unlikely.
Unlikely indeed. A simple search on that site for "Test" turns up many results. Several of them have notes like this next to them: "Sponsored by: www.momshomeroom.com/msn ", and "Sponsored by: www.Tests.com "
Looks like helping the customer is a secondary concern after all.
But that's the point - the content being placed through advertising has not been approved (or un-approved) by the ratings board; therefore they can no longer state that the original rating on the game still applies.
All that would happen, though, is that Sony would pre-clear the advertising/game combinations. MOre hassle, but it wouldn't stop it.
I'm going to start a business selling licenses to things that I don't own. It will be a covenant from me that if I do ever become the owner of said property, I won't sue you for not paying me. It's important to be BabyDuckHat compliant.
Why would you forget you can't slam your front brake in an emergency? Or that you have to see and be aware all the time, no matter what? Or that the amount of lean required increases as speed goes up? I would hope when you've been riding long enough these become things you just do/don't do. Similar to the way that you don't think about the gear pattern or give yourself instructions for how to accelerate. In an emergency you need to process a whole lot of data, a whole lot faster than your can actively process it -- and if you have to remind yourself of all of the basics every time that happens, you're gonna die.*
I'm not saying riding isn't complex - it is. But if you really have to break down all of these things every time you ride, and constantly remind yourself to look ahead and behind and in all directions then no wonder you think it's such an intensive exercise.
If it requires that much active focus, and constant mental reminders of what to do/not to do, I'd recommend finding some other recreation before you hurt yourself.
*that said - in the couple of emergencies I had, time seemed oddly dilated. Kind of like I had all the time in the world to see and measure and consider the best actions... it was an odd sensation. Saved my life though...
Balancing a one-in-front-of-the-other 2 wheeled vehicle traveling at over 70mph through rain, crosswinds and traffic without killing yourself isn't exactly *easy*.
Oh come on. While the first half of that post was almost beautifully poetic, it makes it sound like a lot more work than it is. I've been riding for years. The motorcycle balances itself 99% of the time -- you would have to/work/ to lay it down while riding above 10-15mph. The others are issues, but they are seldom something that you have to consciously focus on - your eyes and body connect and they do most of the work. The less your brain interferes, the better.
That being said: no disagreement on one point. It's still a fair chunk more work than a segway which was designed specifically to prevent people from having to learn how to do perform anything resembling a dexterous activity.
I have an 02, and wanted to buy an 02+. But given OQO is out of business these days, oh well. I won't part with that much cash for an unsupported piece of equipment I intend to use. All I can hope for is the upcoming Archos 9 (running Windows 7) will be small enough to be hand-carried. But pocketing a[[[NO CARRIER
With connectivity like that, I can definitely see why you'd want to replace your 02 with an 02+.

Aw. Way to ruin an evil villain speech. "My domination will be complete."
Just a few more times, and my dominion will be complete! Mod me again, my slaves!
Indeed. From the screen shots, I can see that it's on track to be more or less true to form. Take what MS has done, make it uglier and awkward to use if possible, then proudly proclaim feature compatibility.
Ah, yesss! My master plan is working - mod this one down too! Soon, my power shall become infinite!

ATTENTION MODS: , I hereby command you to mod my comment offtopic. Now, obedient serfs. Now. .

In other words, it won in his review because... erm, it has all those attributes that make it not a netbook...

Hehe. When you read the word "sudden" enough times in a row, you realize how silly looking it is.

I've ridden both cruiser and crotch rocket.
Mind you, at least they can show full breast or half breast on TV here around
Wait, which half?
