andrew and hugo weren't that bad either. Both areas were under a land boom and much of the damage was poorly constructed houses and/or building in vulnerable areas . Many houses built with real wood and nails in less vulnerable areas made it through when the stapled ones didn't.
Better review all code thats been touched by this guy. Maybe microsoft 234 patents isn't FUD, its Gnome, mono, ximan, midnight commander, gnumeric, etc.
Kind of like corporate charters are given by the people, huh? Every time we see misbehavior, threaten to revoke it, make some examples, problem solved.
In other words, "faith"="intentional blindness". How many have died because of faith? History is full of tragedies from lunatics leading the blind(faithful). Faith also gives us an excuse to do things we would never do if we were questioning and worried about the outcome. Just look at any religious massacre, the lunatics aren't the only ones to blame for them either. I shouldn't have to point out any historical tragedies as there are several current examples tossed in front of us on a regular basis. Too bad faith has allowed so many of them to happen. Without doubt and questioning, we shall be forever the manipulated masses and never escape the endless cycle of prejudice, hatred, and murder that is still currently going on.
Without worry we wouldn't have a reason to think about things. Worry is not the end of the world, get a thicker skin you fool.
Since when is it taking tax dollars away from CAL? Considering all the money(our federal taxes) that went down the big black hole of research in California, I'd say it's time for some payback. Why do you think that state does so good even during a bad time in the economic cycle?
You fight the battles that need fighting! Not just the convenient ones. His family should have pride in that he proved that the law isn't working and those kids should learn now that if they don't defend their rights someday they won't have them. He has proven this is happening already. The kids better get a backbone, cause they'll need it. Ben Franklin said it right about giving away rights for security will get neither and those kids better learn it. The kids should be proud of the author for standing up for his rights and by extension theirs. Sounds to me like the kids are already programmed sheep, I fear for the next generation. Embarrassment is temporary. Lack of freedom, once you notice, is often permanent.
When do they become big enough violations? If you don't stop the little ones, you decrease the chances of stopping anything else that's worse. A violation is a violation, severity is point of view.
The cop doesn't need to see your ID for the investigation as the investigation has nothing to do with who you are. Especially for something that should have been cleared up onsite. Unless the store had witness/video of you stealing something, they haven't got anything. You know that pesky innocence before guilty thing, investigation over. I hope you slam the city for it and drive the cop out of his job. Abuse of authority only gets worse as officers move up the chain. Get Circuit city as well, make it a major PR nightmare for them all, while you're educating the public on their real rights. Somehow I don't think that the statute the officer quoted will stand up in court in these circumstances.
Sorry about the brazen idealism, maybe a little overkill. But as long as we keep to ourselves and not help the rest, the government will win by simple divide and conquer tactics as a default. Essentially we'll give away our rights by our own selfishness.
Thank you for saying it. My view is similar. If the guy released it under the BSD license then it should stay BSD even after you added your changes. If you don't want to use the BSD license then WRITE THE DAMN THING YOURSELF and it better be unique, then you can put it under whatever license you like. Neither the BSD or the GPL permit stealing. Theo maybe an active volcano but at least when he's erupting you have an idea somethings going on that should be looked at just to be sure versus the normal silence when potentially bad things happen.
You seem to forget that when someone says "get something from the fridge", they have every right to expect the person to understand from not just the statement but the environment it was given in to be responsible and sensitive enough to not to clean out the fridge. There is an unspoken transfer of responsibility to the receiver that most people disregard today.(the words versus the spirit they were given in) That's why laws are such a joke in the US. Everyone cares about the words that make up the law(word of law) and not the reasons the law exists or the intentions of the law(spirit of the law). It's one of the reasons laws are so complicated, because every intention has to be written up. Life or even law isn't as simple as a rule book. Otherwise a judge would be redundant. The BSD license is more of an honor(spirit) system in many ways, because it expects(trusts) the users to be honorable enough the give back on their own. Unfortunately, many people and by extension businesses have no honor in this day and age. GPL is more word of law and thus more effective given current legal interpretations. They both essentially want the same thing. The GPL is just more direct about it.
"I'm too broke to pay my property tax on my supposedly private property."
Isn't it amazing, still paying rent on something you already own in this ethically bankrupt country. Nice to see "the man" is using power we never gave him. Real power you take. Let's take it back. Besides, when does something you own belong to you?
"Crow flies", dream on! I doubt anyone would prefer any of these low level flying bombs under the control of joe idiot over their property. Hi-ways aren't going away, just up higher as real highways. Like there's any room anyway, just ask the airlines. Eventually just another eyesore and noise polluter just like hi-voltage power lines and cars that you can hear a mile away with the doors closed. I can see the home insurance premiums now, just as high as the flight corridors. Especially after the first "accident" that obliterates a home and kills most of the family. Time to get you AA guns ready people.
But the republicans ran congress during the Clinton Administration. After the first two years, Bill Clinton was in no position to pass anything he wanted for rest of his two terms. The Republican congress was the ones passing the corrupt laws(contract with america, cause of enron debacle) Place blame where it should be you twit.
Ban conflicts of interest. Microsoft and friends are pushing a standard, keep them out of it. It's nice to know america isn't the only country that's ethically bankrupt.
What is it with people, Yahoo is chartered in the US, not China. That charter states they will follow US law or they will can lose that charter. So who's laws should they be following? If they can't follow US law in any country they put a subsidiary in, it shouldn't be there. Their legal obligations should be to the US since Yahoo wouldn't exist otherwise, same to other corporations. The US needs to deal with corporate misbehavior a little better, say by breaking up a few corporations at the governments necessity and not at the corporations convenience.
andrew and hugo weren't that bad either. Both areas were under a land boom and much of the damage was poorly constructed houses and/or building in vulnerable areas . Many houses built with real wood and nails in less vulnerable areas made it through when the stapled ones didn't.
No, bsd just did what everyone else, that includes linux, has been doing to bsd for a decade.
Better review all code thats been touched by this guy. Maybe microsoft 234 patents isn't FUD, its Gnome, mono, ximan, midnight commander, gnumeric, etc.
Then you must not use gnome. Every time I install it in freebsd, mono libraries are installed.
Haven't you noticed they have been putting forth ridiculous limitations, it's called a license.
Kind of like corporate charters are given by the people, huh? Every time we see misbehavior, threaten to revoke it, make some examples, problem solved.
Don't forget to abolish licensing. Since it didn't exist before recent times either. Really mess the bastards up.
How bout the rest of us in operating system land? *bsd, solaris...
nvidia is no angel either, they've been dropping old chipsets from their drivers as well.

Make sure you take out his tail rotor with your .45 before you pass out.

Actually a "tiff" between bsd and gpl camps is the worst thing that could happen considering the world dependence on bsd code.

What is this shit? Real power you take. The government is taking power from the public and the public better take it back or else.

That you have nothing to fear is irrelevant. Given the level of ethics in government(none), you should be afraid.
A simple fix:
Ban conflicts of interest. Microsoft and friends are pushing a standard, keep them out of it. It's nice to know america isn't the only country that's ethically bankrupt.
