    You don't even have to jail break it, join the development program ($99 per year) and you and 100 other people can use your app without Apple's intervention.

    while on OSX that'll use pthreads, and I believe on Linux too, on Windows it'll depend on the compiler used.

    If it was the labels 'forcing' this price down Apple's throat, it seems awfully strange that Amazon and Zune are unaffected.

    Because pulling your goods from one big shop because they won't let you have your way isn't a every effective threat if that big shop has no rivals selling your goods on your terms.

    As long as I still have alternatives, I could care less about the people duped into paying the Apple tax.

    So that'll be that brand hatred thing you're going on about then.

    And that is probably how they got those statistics, by only counting the Windows form factor netbooks, discounting the ones with different specs that only come with Linux.

    Try reading that thing at the top of the page or the article it links too. This time is the headline that's misleading, the summary is not to bad, probably due to the fact that its basically one big quote from TFA.

    The Globe and Mail printed 'some analyst says this...' it does not even name the analyst, and the other links just say 'The Globe and Mail printed that some analyst said...'
    So we've got some anonymous analyst postulating a bidding war and a bunch of links all referencing the original report of what the analyst said.
    Excuse me if I do not consider this to add up to 'I don't think the payouts nor the amounts are in doubt'

    You'd better hand in your literacy and written comprehension cards. All those links amount to are a bunch of self referential
    cross links eventually leading to the original 'Analyst makes up a bidding war and picks a winning figure from his ass' article.

    The 2:1 (US), 4:1 (EU) and 9:1 (JPN) Blue to Red sales ratio's are far more likely to have pushed Warners in Blues direction.

    It quite simple MS and Toshiba write big cheques to the HD-DVD association. The HD-DVD association writes big cheques to Paramount / Dreamworks.
    No money has gone directly between MS and Paramount / Dreamworks therefore Amir Majidimehr is telling the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, it's just not the whole story.

    .....Sure, but it will also replace an even MORE SERIOUS AMOUNT OF COIN that the pharmacos currently make selling treatments to victims. What is better for a pharmaco...

    There are lots of factors that have a bearing on the answer to that question, ones of the top of my head are...
    1. Profit on treatment * no of HIV+ people that can afford it compared to profit on vaccine * members of the world population that can afford it.
    2. Time until patent on current treatment runs out.
    3. Chances of a rival without a current treatment developing a different Vaccine.

    Now I'm not saying that Pharmaco's would not take a treatment over a cure if there was more money in it, they would, but its not a clear cut strategy as you would think.

    there isn't profit to be had by attacking an OS with less than 5% marketshare.

    Yet there are already more viruses for iPod's running Linux. How does that fit in your market share world view?

    It seems that not every one is like you. In every market that the PS3 is available, Blu-Ray discs are out selling HD-DVD. When the PS3 hits Europe next month, HD-DVD will be all but finished as an alternative format.

    There has been speculation that his Big 4 contract forbids this. If this is the case he needs to come clean on that stipulation.

    Assuming that the contract does not have one of those, "You can not reveal the terms of the contract' terms.
    Given the way the RIAA work, do you honestly think it does not have one ?

    Take one modern Apple Mac or alternatively one PC using a recent Microsoft OS (2000 or later).
    Install iTunes.
    Play iTunes content.

    I think you just proven the parents point, the person the quote is quoting quite clearly believes that the Christians are claiming that Jesus is the son of Allah, and as far as I remember the Christians generally claim that Jesus is the son of there own god. That shows clearly that the quoted person believes that the Christian god and his own are the same.
