Oh, you mean the button I click to get to Google?
maybe 1% of readers on slashdot are representative of 90% of Apple's iPod
customer base.
For those customers, Yes, it,does "Just Work".
Apple's continued success is mostly due to the fact that it all just works.
Why would your average Joe Sixpack and his Mom want to switch to another product
that is potentially harder to use?
It's the Apple / iTunes ecosystem that is a major drawcard for your average consumer.
iTunes being a one stop shop for Music / Apps / Updates / Synching etc
If Metallica released their next album online with a "pay what you think it's worth model"...
therefore the ability to pay nothing for the download, you'd all be hitting it like a crackwhore.
"I wouldn't even download it for free..."
Bollocks. You know you would, with the excuse of "just to see how bad they've gotten".
Get off your high horses. You know you want it, morals be damned.
Um bollocks.
System properties, advanced performance options, Visual effects, take check out of "Animate windows when minimising and maximising"
Just because I said I'm using Unbuntu on my laptop, you assume that's the only system I'm using?
My other personal box is XP MCE 2005 and my work boxes are XP Pro.
Maybe you're just an asshat?
Installed the Feb CTP on my notebook (generic Tosh Centrino. 1.6Ghz, 1Gb of DDR M50).
Really impressed with the image quality.
Not impressed with the 7.5Gb base install. Nearly every system change is a complete pain in the ass.
Maybe I'm too used to XP, but it shouldn't take, going from memory, at least 6 mouse clicks to turn off
window animations.
Now running Ubuntu.
I take it Amazon doesn't ship where you live? It's available there, along with the 4" version.

Speaking of vaporware, what ever happened to the Origami Project? It really looked like it had potential.

That would be your 2400 slowing you down. Not the 6600.
It would definitely come with a dictionary. Something you could really use.
