I've got hobbies to occupy my time, and potentially turn into my own business, and many more I could take up given my new abundance of time. Then there's always day trading just for the heck of it. Although I do enjoy my work, and in fact took a substantial pay cut to change into my current job, I wouldn't continue to be a wage slave if I were independently wealthy.
Every crime that is "hate" crime is a crime in and of itself already. Assault, battery, etc are all crimes already. They are crimes because they violate the rights and security of others. They are not more or less wrong because of the perpetrators reasons. All people are equal, its no more wrong for me to beat you because I hate what you are than it is for me to beat you for any other reason.
It wouldn't surprise me if giving criminals harsher punishments for hate crimes would engender even more hatred and resentment within them and their friends, leading to even more hate crimes.
If you put Conservatives, Republicans and Christians in one group, and "people who respect the constitution" in another group, then I think you've covered everyone. (with very little overlap)
Seems fair to me. They paid your bills, and you even had $200 at the end. Or are you one of those entitlement folks who thinks you should be set up for life because you were involved in an accident in which you were not at fault?
What I find interesting about Christians and Christ, is that whenever the bible makes out Christ was a dick (i.e. cursing a fruit tree to never have fruit again because he wanted fruit but the tree was out of season so there was none to have) Christens call it a metaphor, but whenever he did something awesome then that's totally real and actually happened.
Saying that the fruit tree incident was a metaphor doesn't imply that it didn't really happen, just that it had additional symbolic value.
Or maybe the U.S. *wants* North Korea to think that the U.S. is not pleased.
Although... North Korea showing their hand by jamming a signal in peace time is a pretty stupid move. Maybe North Korea *wants* the U.S. to think that North Korea is pleased about jamming a U.S. plane, when infact they have a much more powerful jammer which they didn't use. Hmm....
I pay 10 € for my mobile contract (free calls to land line and same provider included) and additional 10 € for my data plan (250 mb, after that its slowed down till start of the next month). That is ~ 27 USD in total. Got no unlimited SMS though - costs ~ 0.12 USD per SMS... but I don't care as xmpp is way better anyway.
For those of us on T-Mobile without a data plan, they just rolled out a new opt-out pay-as-you-go plan: $1.99/MB.
I don't change my own oil for two reasons: if I screw it up, I'm the only one to blame, and it costs me more in supplies to change my own oil than it does to pay Jiffy Lube. Taking my car to Jiffy lube every 5-6 months, buying tires and a battery every three years, and filling it up is all car maintenance should be. If it is anything else, you are a serious hobbyist, or you are doing it wrong.
I change my own oil because I don't trust the grease monkeys at Jiffy Lube not to screw up...
I bought a T-Mobile Android phone from Best Buy, which was supposed to require a 2 year renewal and data plan. I never bothered to activate the data plan, and it works fine. I suppose that feature will go away when AT&T acquires them.:/

The 99th percentile starts at about $6M in net worth. Again, that's great money, but you're not going to quit your day job.
I would quit my job. $6M is $100K/yr for 60 years. Invested well, the interest would make it even more.
As a Mac user, I don't claim there is no Mac malware, but I do claim that I don't get any. I got one virus on OS 7, but never anything on OS X.
Or, to put it in the terms of Slashdot's favorite form of analogy: No water. Less space than a shuttle. Lame.
FTFY
I'm pretty sure the EULA forbids that, too...
Nice. :)

What about the other 50%?
(See? Two can play at this game.)
"800% more than" would be 9x, with an 8x difference. "800% of" would be 8x, with a 7x difference.
The problem is the lower 50%. Perhaps we should require everyone getting a license to be above the median. ;)
A proper public transportation system wouldn't require anyone to walk the last 5-10 blocks. In Chicago, it's only 1-2 blocks.
Or perhaps their actuaries have found a correlation.
Pretty sure the Prius has the Apple-fan car market buttoned up pretty well at this point.
No, because a lot of us Mac users appreciate aesthetics.

Not a triangle but a Reuleaux triangle. Not inside a peanut but inside an epitrochoid. C'mon, don't those sound cooler than triangle and peanut?
According to your link, the rotor is frequently mistaken for a Reuleaux triangle, but in fact, is not one.
His name wasn't Paul.
Clearly, GP misspelled pallbearers, but still, his name was Steven Paul Jobs.
Why? We didn't come here for news, we're here to argue!
No, we're not!

Truly, you have dizzying intellect!
Is a data plan that expensive in the states?

Even if the cops walked around, to whom would they talk? No one goes outside these days; we stay inside our comfortable, air-conditioned homes.

GE says they write at the same speed as Blu-Ray. InPhase claims the higher rate.

you're logic is broken.
So if half of birds die, it's ok to kill the other half? wtf?
Nah, I think he's saying if 50% of birds die every year from natural causes, we probably don't need to get to worried about an additional 0.00005%.
Note: 0.00005% figure was made up. The order of magnitude may not even be correct.
