      • The number of flaws reported follows the first.
      • The more a product grows in popularity, the more eyes look at it for flaws, the more will be found.
      • If Linux/Firefox/Any other up-and-comer gains in popularity, their discovered flaws will begin to approach, and eventually overtake those of Windows/IE/Office/etc.

Is someone suggesting that Web 2.0 will replace Windows? Are they saying the web will be the OS?

Web 2.0 is nothing if you have a emphasis disconnected computer. Web 2.0 apps are nothing if any number of things go wrong with a connected system. Web 2.0 is slower than snot, even with broadband, hell, just look at PageFlakes, one of the top W2.0 portals, it's buggy as Hell if there's a hiccup in any of the connected systems.

Web 2.0 is not relevent to a discussion about OS. It's a pretty buzz word that authors use to show they are hip to the new trend. Toss it in, throw it away.

Windows will continue to be relevent as long as it has at least the same market share in desktop and server deployments that Linux and Apple have.

Note: She spent most of her productive, read: reproductive, years marrying Nigerians so they could come to the U.S., so never really had a family of her own. Now she's exiting middle-aged status, she is expecting to be cared for by her Nigerian "family".

Her view of helping out poor Nigerians is to use her pension to hire, as she puts it, "houseboys" and staff. Very paternalistic, very British. I'll send this article along as a cautionary tale.
