I have a Rio Riot MP3 player I bought a while back. I have not upgraded Windows Media Player to the latest version because version 10.0 does not support the Rio at all.
Why? Because the latest version of Media Player only support DRM-enabled players, and the Riot has no DRM.
So I have a couple of other ways to put music on the Riot, but the Media Player transfers worked pretty well.
When I can no longer repair the Riot, I guess I'll get another player, but I won't like it!

I've been in desktop support for 11 years. Each time I suggest that new employees have at least a one hour class with IT to go over the basics of using a PC, with additional courses available, I was greeted with the silences that told me "we're not interested."
And yet, when this new employee deletes an entire network directory because they though they were trashing stuff on THEIR PC ("network - do we have one of those?") the cost of a restore, lost time and productivity when other can't work on the network, etc, ad infinitum, most places just don't see the value in providing basic computer training.
"Let the help desk help them" must be the mantra of infinite wisdom of those with the word manager nestled somewhere in their title.
If training on Windows is not considered vital to the corporate world, why would Linux be any different? Until Linux reaches the point where customers can tick off the distro they want pre-loaded on their systems at Dell, HP, Gateway or whatever site, it's going to be a long haul before the widespread adoption of Linux.
IMHO...and let the brickbats fly!

I think I saw this elsewhere in the thread - about Joe Stoopid sending Bob Ignoramus the Pam_Anderson.exe? If you are willing to ignore warnings advising you NOT to install or run a program, JPG, or whatever, attack vector removal would have to first work at the ID 10 T layer for guaranteed protection.
Hold on, got another call here at the Helpless Desk - what's that you say, your PC is running slow? Let me make a ticket for that, and we'll send a tech over right away. Thanks for calling! B-)
Thanks for that tip! I found the page's font too tiny for my baby-boomer eyes. Just increased the text size, and the squinting wasn't necessary.
Is THIS what your computer looks like? You must work in the British Museum!
This was on digg first. Let's not leech off digg, shall we?
