Most likely they will be a tower that rises up from the floor. There are designs that have been proven to survive the wave forces, we just need to make sure that the blades of the windmill never touch the water. Considering the ones proposed to be built off the coast 12-15 miles out in 60-80 feet of water are going to be roughly 50 feet above average high moon tide. The wave heights in that area have been 15-25 feet in the worst storms. The far out (100 miles) are going to be freaking huge. They will be building skyscrapers with a windmill on top out in the ocean.

What about happened to the 5 years the ad says? Which is interesting the same life I have used/seen on just about every laptop for the last 10 years. Some died early (sony batteries, run over with a steam roller, dropped in salt water) but for the most part, a well taken care of and defect free battery will give you ~3 years of life. The hp laptop is just now getting crappy battery run times, the laptop was bought in November 2004. Plus it was an older model then.

To get the 5 years of battery life you charge the laptop 200 times 9or less) per year. Most people will use their nice big shiny laptop more then 200 times in a year. Unless people are using the laptop with the battery removed, wait on that new 17 inch model you cannot take out the battery.

That is the problem, flirting to one may be just conservation to another. Some people are very touchy, it does not mean that they are flirting.

I knew this girl in college who was very touchy. She would put her hands on mine if we were sitting at a table, we would walk arm in arm down the halls. Even with the moronic decisions made by the top people at microsoft, the company is still going. As long as their software can run an an Intel, AMD, or some other company's hardware why should microsoft care. Do you think that Intel or AMD will not give microsoft or any other big OS company a list of instructions that their hardware uses?

So you are saying that ultra low power devices are what will take over. OK, I can sort of see that. For most regular users, that is fine. For the big corporations or research firms who have to churn through trillions of calculations per second I do not see the ultra low power stuff being used. They will cut power use where they can, but this low power hardware isn't up to their computing needs yet.

Some personal observations: On this atom based laptop, Ubuntu has the lowest power use or best battery time of 5 hours 57 minutes. OSX gets 2 hours 33 minutes, and xp gets 3 hours 55 minutes. That was the average time from 10 full charges till the laptop went to sleep on batters. All three were used for email, web surfing, and writing papers. All three were updated with all updates. I set the power settings as close as I could. Plugged in, power off the screen at 20 minutes and run everything else at max. On battery: 5 minute screen off, 3 min hard drive, sleep in 10 min. I was hoping that OSX would have more battery life then xp.

Unfortunately, tech people then usually buy right into that too, and think they really are worse than the average guy who gets all the women.
I'm sorry my friend. But this time is over. We're not the "Oh, you think you are so much better. Well you're a piece of shit" nerds for you anymore. We *know* that we actually *are* (by definition) so much better (in technical things). So what? You may be better in other things. So what?

I say, we should get girls, not despite, but because we are techies.

(Don't you Americans usually say "Who's with me?" in this moments. ;)

Too bad most girls only want us techies to work with their computer boxes, cell phones, and make other electronic boxes work. If we are lucky we get a a thank you hug or may be dinner. The type of dinner where she stays at least 3 feet away from you the whole time, and the place is one where non of her crowd will be.

Actually I have found that teaching them (well trying in some cases) to fix/make it work works better. One needs to actually communicate to teach. And she may come back to you so you can teach her other things about some new device or program she wants to use. Now you may not get to go out with or date that girl but other girls will notice you talking to her. The talking to the first girl in teaching her will help you talk to the other girls (if you needed help in that area). Just remember talk in english (or your first language) do not try to explain something in geekese. Geekese only works for other geeks, if she happens to be a female geek then go right ahead. But then, she most likely doesn't need your help in using the electronic device.
