All Apple OSes are inherently tied to their hardware (or at least, they try to be).

It's always been that way since the first Apple computers, and there's no reason to think it will change. So pointing to the variety of hardware available on Android is a valid plus point.

The parallel to Windows is that it's popular and can run on a multitude of hardware, that seems about it. It's the same as OSX and Linux when it comes to malware too - but for the fact that those OSes aren't quite so popular. In fact it's slightly more secure than OSX and most Linux distros in that it gives you some insight into what privileges the app has. Users will always be able to install malware if you give them install privileges.

Well, a coworker with a new Android phone said to me how the battery life was atrocious. I had a look, told her to turn off WiFi and Bluetooth when she wasn't using them (and put a widget on her desktop to monitor these things, if it wasn't already there, I can't remember), and the next day she was saying how amazing the battery life was. I would have thought the iPhone had the same issues there though.

And if that time arrived, people would have very little new music, movies, smart phone apps, etc. It's not that we "believe" anything, it's that we enjoy things, and wish to reward the people who created those things, so that they make more cool things. I am going to keep on paying for my eBooks, at least until my local library has some nice eBook lending policy. I've already switched to subscription services for a lot of my music and movies.

I think the simplest answer here was that it was someone playing around with Firesheep on your company network after hearing about it on the news. I switched to HTTPS FB sessions after hearing about that.

Technically I already knew of the issue I suppose, but most of the people I work with wouldn't even know what a cookie was, let alone that you can steal sessions with one. The big fuss made about Firesheep means that pretty much anyone can do it now though. I was wondering about running it myself just to see what kind of stuff pops up on our own network.

When did I say that public policy should be set on my personal opinions? As I've stated elsewhere, it is my own personal opinion that people should be allowed to do what they want with their bodies, but I don't like having to see the results. If legalising all drugs will cut down the problems I see already whenever I walk through certain areas of my city, then I'm all for it.

I also think people who can't even be responsible with their own bodies shouldn't be allowed to have kids. If they smoke, heavily overeat, are an alcoholic or otherwise addicted to any substance, they shouldn't be allowed children until they can show that they can provide a safe environment to raise a kid.

I don't think you're trying to insult me, I just think you're not very good at understanding words like "hate" are obviously personal feelings.
