Life doesn't begin at conception, sorry. I probably shouldn't bite, but where exactly does life 'begin' then? Just because you say something doesn't make it fact, sorry. Are you just referring to 'human life', because cells multiplying and developing into a foetus sounds like life to me. Conception is exactly the moment which defines whether a life is going to start or not (sometimes other things can end that life prematurely of course), how can it not be? I don't want to get into a debate of whether abortion is wrong, because there are some really nasty situations where it makes sense, but it just seems pretty stupid to suggest that what happens after conception is not 'life'. NASA are sure going to have to find something more interesting than single celled organisms for you to accept that there is life on other planets..

Navigating in 3D is a big win. Well, yeah.. apart from the whole mechanical failures/gravity combination ;) When Joe/Joanne Public forgets to check the oil level or fill up with gas before a big flight they could end up with a lot more problems than having to spend a few hours by the side of the road :P Not to mention there's a lot more observation necessary to avoid collisions. - having a road structure makes it fairly easy to know where to direct your attention to.

Sorry to be so negative, it's just in my nature to look out for problems. If all the planes were controlled remotely by a large ATC network/AI combo then we'd be in business though :)

Today, it's kind of silly. Devices in the iPhone size class can do almost everything, so building all this gear into a vehicle is kind of pointless. Time to start turning your iPhone into a scooter then? Or how about a surfboard made entirely of iPhones..

The point is that there's no way of knowing in advance that you're going to go over some set limit unless it is made known. I wouldn't be surprised if some services are still advertised as unlimited without even a little star. But even then, having to read the small print in every ad you see just gets tiresome. Personally I'd be more willing to go with a company that is up front about all its costs - maybe even if they cost a little more than the competition. I kept seeing a stupid advert on a bus-stop a couple of months ago for T-Mobile or someone. The ad said they were "setting the internet free *", then "*you can browse the net for free in store when you're trying our phones!". Words cannot describe how pathetic that is.

Well it's the main thing that annoyed me in Doom and Duke Nukem the last times I played them - moving the mouse forward/back makes your character run forward/back. I know it isn't that much harder to implement (probably easier to implement considering in Doom the game has to guess which height you're aiming at), but it makes a massive difference! It changes the level of skill you need massively when you need to aim at the proper elevation as well as just line things up on the horizontal axis. I think gaming has been going down the tubes for years too, I'm not one for flashy graphics over fun gameplay (though it's always nice to get a graphics boost for a game that is already good in gameplay terms, like with GTA IV :) ), but being able to look up/down affects gameplay a lot you know!

Kind of scary isn't it that China is spending billions building something which is only useful if they fight a major war with the US. I'd expect that could have a lot to do with the fact that the US also spends billions on stuff that is primarily intended to be useful for when they're at war with other countries, and then proceeds to illegally invade countries in the name of a "war on terror" or something like that. I don't care if I get modded troll for that; national defense is of course a valid expense, but the amount that America spends on 'defense' is insane. Since the US is allied or at least on friendly terms with plenty of other countries, then the system could be useful in any number of situations than just a straight war with the US anyways.. and it's not like you would be happy if the US was reliant on the Chinese for their GPS. Nobody in their right mind is happy with an obvious single point of failure, if they can avoid it.

In fact most of the modern games arent that diffrent from Doom, there may be a million billion polygons and shaders and stuff like that, there may be 'iron sights' and 'Squad based multiplayer' but at there hearts FPS's havent changed since the early days There's also being able to aim up/down, I'd say that was pretty major. The elements that haven't changed are that you can run around in a 3D world shooting stuff, and choose weapons using the top row of number keys.. not much else has stayed the same. Oh, and Wolfenstein was first ;) Though Doom was presumably first with multiplayer, and deathmatch is something that's still good fun. I personally prefer team based games these days as I don't then feel like everyone is out to get me - I play games to get AWAY from real life! :p
