lurk more, please, okay, thanks:) I didn't bother thinking what it meant til I saw your reply, but yah the inside jokes get okay after a while, despite sometimes being overdone or improperly applied
I've noticed that too, and decided it was one of the main reasons why I always felt Mac and Amiga OS were just more 'solid' than Windows. I can't believe they haven't sorted that out in Vista? What a bunch of morons.. presumably all it takes is some double buffering..
Also, if you read TFA, he goes on to state that "laziness, impatience, and hubris" are the three virtues of a good terrorist. There's also the knowledge that There's More Than One Way To Do It..
That's an interesting idea, though if it were put into effect then police officers and lawyers would stop working on that kind of case, which is exactly what you don't want. I can't imagine anything much more horrific than being accused of child porn and losing your job, friends (maybe not entirely but there may always be that suspicion there) - poor guy:( though he probably managed to do something pretty dumb in the first place to get his ID stolen? How likely are you to get your details stolen if you're careful to keep your system up to date with anti-virus, use a personal firewall, and don't use IE?
The obvious solution here would be to have an entity charged with policing the police. With all the same resources as regular police have, but only able to arrest and investigate police officers. I thought they already had internal security or something? Question is, who watches the watchers of the watchers? "Quid custodiet custodis" or whatever the latin phrase is:P
Uh, it doesn't take a genius TV detective to notice blood outside, but you can always clean it up etc. I agree with the rest though, I think having guns for self defence is reasonably when the criminals have easy access to guns too. In the UK I feel safe enough without a gun though. I've had some martial arts training, though I'm not sure how much use it would be in a real fight, especially if the attacker had a knife or somesuch. My 'apartment' is so small that anyone who broke in with hostile intentions would probably be able to get to me before I realised what was going on and grabbed my bokken:P I'd probably be more comfortable just punching/kicking their ass to the ground anyway..
If only there was a decent substitute for Outlook and Autodesk Inventor then I could pretty much shift our whole company to Linux:( I tried OpenExchange a few years ago but it was a nightmare trying to get it setup (and then we started using Direct Push email on our phones which just wouldn't have worked with OpenExchange anyway so I gave up on that idea for now). Do you know of any open source clients that work well with an exchange server, including the calendar, etc? POP/IMAP clients wouldn't really cut it IMO..:/
Those are all just options. When you include the different versions of Vista that you can get then don't you have to count like 5 DVDs? I think in this case you shouldn't be thinking about the size *after* install. Sure there are plenty of options for window managers, web browsers and kernels, but you don't install of them, you just need one of each. Choice = good, bloat = bad. Or do you just install every single package you can get your hand on?
Recommended retail price. I am also 24 and knew that, but for stuff that you don't know, try googling it in this form "define:rrp". Very handy for random acronyms/words you don't know
Do you mean Jeremy Clarkson? And the girl who put her details out lives on the outskirts of a large city. Not the largest by UK terms but still not a small town community either. In this day and age of mostly everyone having their own private long distance transportation device I don't think it really matters much where you live, unless you're on a remote island..
It could entirely be that our government is working for us That's funny, I've not seen any kind of democratic process involved in this decision. Electing Bush doesn't seem to me to condone everything that he may do in the future, though yes the fact that he was re-elected does say something.
Kind of agree with the rest of your sentiments (though I thought you were just kidding at first), apart from the 'economic prosperity' bit. America's economy isn't performing too well at the moment. And I was blaming you (plural) for not objecting in some meaningful way to your government deciding that the law doesn't apply to them. If our prime minister decided that it was okay for him to murder, lie under oath, steal and such then I'd have some pretty strong objections to his leadership..
If marketing did not exist, you would walk into a store and purchase a random item off of the shelf (remember, no brand names, no fancy packaging!). In which case do you think you would find the better product? Wow, you believe that? I buy things that looks like they have ingredients that I like. Choosing a tin of soup for example is pretty easy just based on the writing on the tin. Of course I know that Heinz make good tinned products so I'm happy to buy them, but I also buy supermarket's own branded stuff too (noodles for 8p, yes please!). Your assertion that brand names and fancy packaging automatically make something a 'better product' for consumption is ludicrous.. the information that 'red bull gives you wings' is hardly useful information when it comes to choosing an energy drink. Marketers prey on people's inner needs as you say, but they certainly don't satisfy them for any length of time. There's a reason that developers resent marketing winning out over quality products (hint, Microsoft Win****)
Sounds like he's still on their payroll to me. He completely avoided the last question. He's as bad as the damn politicians! That's pretty bad.
Circle Jerk.. good name for a stick man comic..

I did try, but I kept getting the Green-tea-leaf Pattern Of Death. I think there could be a problem with the Brownian motion dampeners..
If you ever get a chance, try out Virgin Tea. I've lost mine but I'm always on the lookout for more.
You'll need three lumps of RAM if you want this thing to run Vista :/
A cup that can hold both water AND coffee? Madness.
sub bomb_function

$_ = chomp @_[0];
print "Oh hai I fixd ur bom! Kaboom!" unless (/engineer/);

Enough of your hubris! Now where did I put that damn standard input output library? I can't be assed spending all that time writing my own!!
I thought that was something to do with Microsoft. Here in the UK it's always been RRP..

That'll teach his mum for telling him that breakfast is the most important meal of the day

I think I speak for everyone here when I say: you need to get laid. You need to get laid more than *I* need to get laid. Go get laid!

What are the downsides from 2000 to XP? I liked 2000 okay, but XP just seems to be the same but curvier.
