Yep, if I have to see adverts I'd prefer to at least be able to choose a category of advert to see.. for example MSN comes up with random movie ads, some dodgy sex chat type ad, and some ad with a large hairy male nipple on it, I mean wtf.. I don't need to see that while chatting to my friends (but I like using custom emotes on MSN X( )

Yep, I don't see what other way there is to do it rather than just reverse the process :P It's funny seeing some people say it's 'amazing', and also it's a dumbass way to try to disguise something. I don't think the summary is accurate in thinking that blurring can be undone to the same extent as to get a license plate back or whatever.. it would be possible to get a bit of detail back if there wasn't too much blurring being done, but say you applied a very heavy gaussian blur to a section of a picture, everything would basically get mashed into one colour..

While I think it's true that Linux boxes really are 'more' secure, that very fact makes a lot of users (myself certainly) less security aware when using non Windows systems (Mac OS/Linux). That just means that I don't tend to worry that I'm going to get any spyware or viruses no matter what website I visit. When it comes to someone actually attacking a machine directly rather than relying on passive methods then I admit am pretty clueless, with regards to both Windows and Linux... perhaps some people here could give advice on how to be more proactive in defending against such threats (intrusion detection programs etc?)
