lol I haven't touched my Wii for months. So to speak. I wouldn't call myself an expert at SSB, probably have all of an hour or 2's experience. Not wussing out or anything >_> hehehe. Ask me again in December and then we'll see, I guess I probably will get the thing if I'm not still addicted to MUDding
It's like someone once told me in high school. He'd been playing CS pretty much since alpha or something, and I'd only just started. I said I was sure I'd be able to kill him - he agreed, but said that he'd win more consistently, and he was probably right (but only since I was a n00b at that point:p ). If you can win 4/5 matches you're obviously the better player. I played SSB with my sister on an old SNES we found at a holiday home and pwned her. She found it boring and repetitive though. I guess some people just have no taste, because even with the simple format I could play for ages:p Haven't played any of the latest versions, they're maybe more varied.
I still managed to make it sound like Mario, but it read like Jar-Jar.. how disturbing. Though it would be more on topic. Being able to stab Jar-Jar through the head with a lightsabre would be a great Christmas gift!

The projectiles from those are affected by gravity, wind, and cause a sight more permanent damage than these things.
I hope the technology doesn't get too cheap and leaked into the public, otherwise child abuse and other kinds of crime/abuse would get a whole lot easier (no visible trauma, and people would have a lot less moral issues with just hurting someone temporarily rather than shooting them).
Disappointingly, I started going out with someone I met online, who turned out not to be interested in sex at all. There are some real weirdos out there.
You could get someone to take both tests and I'm sure their score won't be the same. If they score lower then you know that the average is increase, and vice versa (or you may decide that the tests are a load of bollocks, which is probably the more adequate explanation). Maybe I'm underestimating the percentage of the world that uses the internet, but you could also be overestimating it. I don't know the composition or size of the groups that they decide this 'average' from anyway, but just because the average intelligence of the world changes doesn't mean that the original test will change. Though you can always re-weight the answers to the questions.
That is utterly insane. I thought that without all the requirements of backwards compatibility to think about with Vista and DX10, that they'd be able to write something good. I really didn't think that even Microsoft could mess it up, I thought they'd learned something over the years -.- It's kind of nice to see them shoot themselves in the foot, but I really hope that they either smarten up QUICK or just get knocked out of the picture, otherwise we're going to be held back by them again for another decade.
Is it a good idea to lie to a company or not provide any (constructive) feedback on negative issues just because they're being nice? If nobody is honest with them then their product may start off well and then head south quickly due to the pandering masses.
Or, they could write it for XP? Why would they want to have it run on Vista, what is the point? I thought Vista sounded okay in theory, but the implementation has been astoundingly poor.
And to be honest, I think it takes a lot more work to create all the maps, characters, animations, artwork, etc than it does to write an engine (especially when they have so much experience with creating engines, though obviously they will have a lot of experience in modelling and stuff too). They've ported their engine between platforms before, so porting to a different graphics/input/whatever library won't be too much for them. And if they're supporting Mac then they may as well make a Linux version anyway. Yes, I have coded mods/bots for FPS shooters before, done a bit of OpenGL coding, and also done a small amount of mapping/modelling (though I wouldn't call myself an expert with any of them, my CS bots were pretty awesome;) )

I doubt anyone on slashdot can truly understand that feeling though;)
Nothing wrong with being prepared. It's better than having an awesome device and knowing that USB is limiting your throughput. Can you imagine a beowulf cluster linked together by USB 3 cables, while running Linux, by our evil overlords in Soviet Russia?? Mmmmmm
Probably a lot more people (especially if you count the morons with the owned PCs) involved in cyber crime than the actual drug trade. I'd say it's a lot safer as far as leading a Life of Crime goes..
I wonder how much of this $105 billion is money going to the anti-virus companies? Or did they leave themselves out when counting this figure?

Well, my MacBook Pro already has an ATI card - though last time I tried an Ubuntu live CD it didn't even get to X windows! I'm satisfied with Mac OS for non work use at the moment anyway (tend to use it for browsing, listening to music, watching DVDs, MUDding over telnet etc when I'm at home, and XP for other stuff)

Kinda sounds like you suck. No offense :P
Look.. I am your father.. I made you, I bought you a Wii, and I'm not gonna apologise for taxing your hand in return.
I still managed to make it sound like Mario, but it read like Jar-Jar.. how disturbing. Though it would be more on topic. Being able to stab Jar-Jar through the head with a lightsabre would be a great Christmas gift!
It also lets you do all manner of vile, sick and immoral things which you probably don't actually do. What is your point?
Maybe not quite up to idiot levels, but you could see a therapist about your freudian slip? :P Blospot.com.. probably NSFW

Latter presumption. It was a joke. Don't spoil it by over analysing it.
Why do I get the feeling that some people think "the world" means "America"? :p

What can DX10 do that DX9 can't though? Isn't most of the ooh shiny done in shaders these days? Which DX9 already does.
It can if you count all the people that don't use the internet? As long as they gain in current IQ terms sufficiently to balance it all out :P
