Clearly by what metric? The PS3 also outsold the 360 eventually. The Wii kicked both their asses in terms of pushing units. Xbox and PS3 are about the same in terms of games and all the "exclusive" BS.
Don't all Xbox "exclusives" also come out for Windows after a while? It seems kind of redundant to have one IMO. Whereas some of my favourite games ever have been PC or PS3 only..
After more than six years of playing catch up, lifetime PlayStation 3 sales have passed lifetime Xbox 360 sales to become the second bestselling home console for the seventh generation. According to VGChartz latest sales data the PlayStation 3 has sold 77,313,472 units to date, while the Xbox 360 has sold 77,311,669 units.
The PlayStation 3 first launched on November 11, 2006, nearly one year after the Xbox 360, which launched on November 22, 2005.
The gap was just over five million units when the PlayStation 3 launched, but it grew to more than eight million units as the PlayStation 3 struggled to take off when it first launched. However, after the first console redesign, price cuts and major software releases the PlayStation 3 started outselling the Xbox 360 on a weekly basis.
In 2010, the PlayStation 3 managed to catch up by 600,000 units and in 2011 by nearly 900,000 units. In 2012, the PlayStation 3 sold 12.73 million units, while the Xbox 360 managed to sell 11.10 million units. In just the first five months of 2013 the PlayStation 3 has outsold the Xbox 360 by one million units.
The Wii, the bestselling home console for the seventh generation, is 22.35 million units ahead of the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. However, the PlayStation 3 has caught up by 2.50 million units in just five months.
Microsoft is still one of the main office players yes. There have been ways around that for quite a while, and there continue to be more ways around it.
The reference for games, though..? What are you smoking?
Anyone who has been paying attention knows that Nokia has been "owned" by MS for a while now though, so this news really just isn't surprising in any way. And it doesn't seem like it will benefit anyone other than Nokia shareholders looking to cash out.
Consider the things that most computer users do. Now consider the devices that they can do (and do do.. ho ho) these things on. Smartphones, tablets, consoles, internet enabled TVs, and everything else that you can now use for things like Facebook, Netflix, editing documents, etc. You have now noticed that their market relevance is nowhere near 95%. And it's falling.
The US having the least correlation with other countries is a sign that there is either massive brainwashing/groupthink in the rest of the world as a whole, or in the US itself.. hmm:p
I wasn't trying to suggest that we ban anything else. Only point out how dumb it is to act like people can't hurt other people if they so wish. At a very basic level, a group of trained MMA fighters could do a lot of damage on a plane, even if everyone was forced to board naked. The only way they can make things entirely "safe" is to do full body scans, cavity searches, etc, then sedate and restrain everyone on the aircraft.. and even then there are probably ways to cause harm that I'm not thinking of. Maybe by making people eat something that, when digested, will release deadly gases onto the ship. Which isn't meant to sound as much like a fart joke as I just realised it does.
Those cheaper devices are more likely to be from manufacturers who don't care about implementing bullshit like HDCP. I'm assuming that Sony will be fully "compliant" there, and therefore only devices which comply fully with the standard would work. Maybe they also require a minimum version of the HDMI standard.
Maybe the NSA offered Facebook even more to acquire all of these embarrassing videos and other personal information?:p Or maybe the info is worth that to Facebook themselves. I would have thought they had enough already though..
Well, technically it would have been better being altered to a colon if the semi-colon separated list were to parse correctly.. though a human brain would just issue a warning rather than an error here.
The Facebook Messenger app is much better than WhatsApp IMO.. it allows you to continue conversations uninterrupted either on your PC or mobile, plus it's free. Not sure why people get so interested in it. One person I knew said her phone had "free international texts" - which sounded like a pretty awesome deal - but then I found out she just meant using WhatsApp. Wtf?
Don't worry, you'll never make them realise that they're not the lead character in a conspiracy thriller. Sure there are "conspiracies" (though not exactly very surprising ones given the contents of the PATRIOT act), but most people are boring as hell. Even the ones that think they're interesting.
Then I doubt the US government would be in billions/trillions/whatever of debt.. they already have more than enough money from taxes - they just use it poorly.
Apart from when there is direct evidence of malice on Microsoft's front.. of which there has been plenty. They've even been convicted for anti-competitive behaviour.
David Cole and Phil Barrett exchanged emails on 30 September 1991: " "It's pretty clear we need to make sure Windows 3.1 only runs on top of MS DOS or an OEM version of it," and "The approach we will take is to detect dr 6 and refuse to load. The error message should be something like 'Invalid device driver interface.'" Microsoft had several methods of detecting and sabotaging the use of DR-DOS with Windows, one incorporated into "Bambi", the code name that Microsoft used for its disk cache utility (SMARTDRV) that detected DR-DOS and refused to load it for Windows 3.1

Yep. There is literally no other way of stopping this kind of secret government behaviour than kicking up a massive shitstorm before it gets too out of hand. Boohoo, the guy did something illegal while outing you for all your illegal and immoral bullshit. Everyone else in the world would give him a medal, but the government (apparently) think that pointing out that he stole some passwords will make us hate him?
Even without those two, the figure is still well over a trillion. I wasn't actually implying that you should stop at getting it to a trillion either, I was just pointing out how ludicrous the current number is. Can you justify the amount of resources being plowed into your military? No country that would like to invade or destroy the US can actually afford to do so. More civilised countries have no reason to even consider attacking (yet). It's actually kind of scary how powerful and pervasive your military is, considering the blatant corruption and power hungry nature of your leadership. I just hope your servicemen and citizens have the balls to stand up against it if things start getting a bit too Third Reich. Or the whole world is fucked.
I've only read about 5% of the way into that article and it's actually terrifying. Because he's right. He says what a lot of Slashdotters hint at, but he says it very clearly..
Both parties are rotten - how could they not be, given the complete infestation of the political system by corporate money on a scale that now requires a presidential candidate to raise upwards of a billion dollars to be competitive in the general election?
It should have been evident to clear-eyed observers that the Republican Party is becoming less and less like a traditional political party in a representative democracy and becoming more like an apocalyptic cult, or one of the intensely ideological authoritarian parties of 20th century Europe. This trend has several implications, none of them pleasant.
I don't give a shit about republicans vs democrats, because both parties are obviously corrupt, and both are happy to continue infringing on their citizens' privacy, and continue their invasions of the rest of the world..
Fuck that. Really, fuck it. I used to be angry at America, but now I just feel bad for its citizens - a lot of whom will probably end up as refugees if things keep going like this.
Where in the world did yo get the information that the system is "slightly chaotic"?
If you'd read the post I was replying to, you might have understood the context of that statement. He was saying that the system (once it is working) would end up similar to that of the Social Security department - that the system would work overall, but occasionally people would screw up because they're not paying attention.

If you mean that clearly you haven't read the summary of this or any of the other Tesla stories, then yes it's clear.
So, tell us more about how you've never had a dog (and/or don't understand metaphors)?
Hahaha.. yeah they sell a console, sure.

Is that meant to be insightful, somehow? I'm quite happy not to be in any spotlights.
.. buys other increasingly irrelevant tech dinosaur for lots of money.

+1 - wtf is the point?
Anybody that really wants to can already manufacturer their own weapons in the airport: Terminal Cornucopia.
A 3D printed knife would probably be a much better weapon than a 3D printed gun that can only fire one shot.

That sounded a bit unlikely to me, so I looked up the actual quote:
The United States is proud to stand with you as your strongest ally and your greatest friend
The way he's worded it, he could be saying that they're friends and allies, just that he considers the US stronger and more great than everyone else.
Or imagine the authors violated their own license by mistake :D
