  1. the pecking order on Porn Sites Still Exposed In China · · Score: 1

Could it be that internet censorship in China has a pecking order?

    Do you mean "Peking" order?

All of that may be true, but if you don't think that unions artificially prop up useless workers then you're out to lunch.

Agreed. Also, the kernel is completely separate from the various *nix window managers and desktop environments, which is where usability really comes into play.

Of course. Because it is unfeasible that someone would have more friends than you.

  5. Re:what does Bob Dylan know? on Is the CD Becoming Obsolete? · · Score: 1

This is quite possible. But it seems to me that the quality of CD production has drastically improved since CDs were first released, so basing the quality of CDs on those first cuts might not be a good idea.

  6. Payoff on Digital Waste Worth More Than Gold, Copper Ore · · Score: 1

The payoff is huge: computer waste contains 17 times more gold than gold ore, 40 times more copper than copper ore. But the detritus also leaches chemicals and metals into local water supplies.

Yes of course, because it's so easy to physically harm someone else using wireless internet and payment in cash. Oh wait...

Pot does affect other people. There's no standardized test to prove/disprove someone was smoking pot prior to driving... The legalization of marijuana isn't a black and white issue.

  9. Re:waht about on Disney Encrypting Screener DVDs to Prevent Piracy · · Score: 1

This is so true. Just look at how long it took for people to decipher the watermarks produced by inkjet printers... something as small as say, 10 pixels in different positions on the screen would be sufficient (even if it was present for just one or two frames), and unless the ripper had distinct knowledge of those pixels, they'd be none the wiser.

  10. Re:Interesting pricing structures.... on ABC Affiliates Grapple With TV-Show Downloads · · Score: 2, Insightful

Yes... and how often do you watch a show? Once, maybe twice? Now, looking at my "Most Frequent Listens" playlist in iTunes, most songs get listened to about 30 times that much over the span of a few months. Overpriced? Not exactly.

I've never understood this... how can you call yourself a music fan if you're not willing to support the artist that you're listening to? I bought a piece of vinyl (Wolf Parade) and a cd (Metric) this weekend, coming to a total of $40. I will continue to do this for as long as possible, because I have respect for the artists that put so much into their work... In this day and age, a good record is about the best value you can find.

Someone mod up the parent post! You say more Asians are more intelligent / harder workers, and I say give me a break. Every race has hard workers _and_ lazy people.
