  1. Re:who cares? on Apple vs Microsoft Both Copycats · · Score: 2, Insightful

Indeed. Great developers steal, right? Maybe it's not good for Apple or Microsoft or their lawyers, but anything that generates a little competition (and maybe even a little bit of innovation) is good for the consumer.

Yeah, but if you're dealing with classified information, you have to be paranoid.

  3. Hmm... on The Keyboard That Could Phone Home · · Score: 5, Funny
This threat, however far-fetched, seems particularly relevant in light of the U.S. government's decision in May to use computers built by Lenovo only for processing unclassified data. The Chinese government owns 28% of Lenovo, information that has sparked fears of espionage. As it turns out, numerous keyboards are also manufactured in China.
With Communist computer, keyboard spy on YOU!

Is that URL from the trailer? Googling "talladega nights" gets me to this Sony Pictures page, with no MySpace hits in the first few pages of results.

  6. DVD DRM cracked on Warner to Sell Music on DVD · · Score: 4, Informative
On the proposed DVD album, the main audio mix is to be protected by the same software that already protects the content on normal DVDs.
If they mean CSS, hasn't that been cracked for, like, years? So it should be *possible* to copy the music. (Of course, if you can't copy the songs with iTunes or WMP, it is protected from most users.)

But if Intel and AOL.... God, those would be some hideous mutant children (particullarly the ones that more closely resemble AOL).

  8. Re:Sounds good, but... on Solar Wi-Fi To Bring Net to Developing Countries · · Score: 1

Hmm, I hadn't though of that. One of these Green Wifi things plus a solar-powered satellite transceiver might be able solve the broadband problem.

  9. Sounds good, but... on Solar Wi-Fi To Bring Net to Developing Countries · · Score: 2, Insightful

If they already have problems with power, etc., how will they get a broadband Internet connection? I guess you could use WDS or something to extend the range, but I don't think that's a very practical solution.

Let's see... an Israeli plane blows up a building in Lebanon after warning the people to leave.
So if the 9/11 hijackers had warned us they were going to destroy the WTC, it would have been OK? That's absurd. Whatever you think about the conflict in the Middle East, don't forget to look at it from both sides. We're all humans, right?
