You would think most people would be smart enough to keep the volume down, but that's just not the case. More than half the people I see with iPods have them cranked up loud enough that I can hear them 2-3 away. I mean, if you need the volume that loud, but some real, noise-reducing headphones already.
I think the cache is designed to help with booting and suspend/restore, so it shouldn't be written too much. With a large enough flash buffer, it should be able to least for the normal life of the drive.
That's not necessarily sad. As a hobbist/freelance web developer, I love that Microsoft is finally starting to get their act together. A more secure, more standards-compliant, less buggy IE is a Good Thing for almost everybody. It might not be perfect -- I was hoping for CSS display: table support -- but it's a nice place to begin.
I really wish I had mod points right now. The summary and (to a lesser extent) article are the most misleading I've seen in quite a while. Oh well, maybe it'll be improved for the dupe.
Isn't that the way it always is? The smart people are the most likely to suffer from confidence problems, where as the not so smart people tend to be more self-confident by nature. I think it's just a matter of teaching all kids to be confident they're doing their best, and telling them that's all that really matters.
Actually, there's a good chance it wasn't Ben Franklin. here for a bit more information. Still, it's definitely a thought-provoking quote, whoever really said it first.
But in the end, it's an Apple product and Apple is responsible. Sure, mistakes happen, and they did apologize, I'll give you that. The little jab at Microsoft was completely uncalled for, though. It makes Apple look far worse in my eyes than the accident did in the first place.
Taking away public access to guns might help a little, but I don't know how much. It might keep them out of the hands of stupid people and stupid bad people, but Really Bad People (TM) would find a way to get them.
Umm, whatever ever happened to innocent until proven guilty? I agree there may be a good chance Reiser did it, but I think there's also reasonable doubt he didn't.

Seriously, if you've come to the point of getting a divorce, it's a problem with you and your spouse. Don't blame your job, your health, your astrological sign, or whatever. They might contribute to the problem, but the problem was there long before then. If, e.g., you work too much and don't spend quality time with your husband/wife/kids, that's a family problem. Either you or your spouse (probably both of you) need to recognize that everything starts with you.
Yes, but raising kids right involves a stable home life. Kids of divorced parent may turn out OK, but who knows what kind of fear and hate they'll carry with them. Happy parents == happy kids. Angry parents == angry kids. (YMMV, of course. And no, I don't know this from experience, thank God.)
Word. I let out a little chuckle when I got to that part of the article. I can understand emailing and web surfing on an open wifi connection, but who says his WoW is more important that the other guy's BitTorrent? Personally, I think they're both bandwidth hogs.:)

[nitpick]I know you're just trying to be funny, but the site was suspended due to exceeding its CPU quota, not its memory quota.[/nitpick]
Even more importantly, who watches the watcher-watchers?
I'm sure it's correct. Math is all that happens in a Loveless study.
Err, I meant to say I'm a "hobbyist", not a "Hobbist". :/
Well, maybe he should just RTFA, but you've gotta admit the headline and summary are very misleading.

Yes, but did you know that 42.23161584 percent of statistics are made up on the spot?

You can find a really high resolution copy (3915x3885 as a TIFF or JPEG) of the image here. Hmm, this might make a pretty desktop wallpaper.

And Apple does no testing on the disk hardware they receive?
Arrgh! Bad mental images, bad!

But don't shoot them today! That would just convince more people that Friday the 13th is unlucky.
I *like* radioactive toast, you insensitive clod!

Damn, I'm starting to sound like Dr. Phil.

Let me guess, you used hookt on fonix, right?
I couldn't agree more. All generalizations are wrong.
