  1. Re:Will the be as honest as they currently are? on Trolltech Going Public · · Score: 1

I hate to break it to you, but once you start incorperating other people's code, it often becomes subject to their licencing terms, since it was theirs to begin with.

This is a virility issue. AFAIK, the Open Source edition requires you to licence all code under a GPL(-compatible) license. Since incorperating any "prototype" code would taint the codebase, Trolltech is just warning their users.

You're right that if everyone did this, Tor'd be screwed. However, many of the endpoint nodes are run by universities, so there's no dire shortage of endpoints. Tor needs both, but for the squeemish, you don't have to run an endpoint. You're still doing SOMETHING to help.

    Easy solution to your qualms:
    DON'T BECOME AN ENDPOINT!
YOu don't have to be an endpoint, and Tor, freenet, etc. are secure enough that you are protected from trafic analysis. All packets are also encrypted, so it's not like your Localtown PD is going to have the technology smarts needed to determine that you were a part of such a transaction.

That's a little bit inacurate. TR really didn't do as much trust-busting as most people think. He favored regulation of monopolies, and used the threat of breaking them up to get them to swollow regulation.
OTOH, Taft did more trustbusting, but was fat and innefective otherwise.

RIM: The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness. For he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know I am the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you.
