Uh, no. That would be almost as bad as running on NT. Unless you happen to have a realtime, fully rudendant, fail-safe, ultra secure version of Linux in your pocket. No, I thought not. I like Linux as much as the next hack, I also like SunOs and FreeBSD but I would never run a milatary app on any of those os's. If you want to see a Mil-grade os check out the fellos at Wind River not that they are perfect and I would not want to run a word prosseser that runs under ther stuff but If I wher to try to control a flying robot that could blast the hell out of a city I might consiter them.
Saying that it looks more like a worm whole(yes the whole hole) generator is kinda like saying that it looks more like an apple than fruit. Of corce I could be wrong but my understanding of Esp. Relitivity goes to say that there is not much difference between worm holes, FTL and yes time travel. But I am far to lazy to actualy pick up a book and refresh my memory so I think I will just send a incomprehensible, misspelled, most lickly wrong, and slighly off topic post to my favorat pool of (miss)information. maby some of you guys could enlighten me on the time travil aspect assuming that this thing actualy works it seems to me that an out side observer (i.e. not the message) would see the data get to its destination almost instantly with absolutly 0 signal loss. (Or would the signal get stronger?? t=t0/sqrt(????) how do those equatios go?)
What does it matter what your kernel is dooing if your bandwidth is gone? While I will agree that there is a point in a DoS attack where you can get data threw your network and your system is still purring like a kitten, and ther are also extrems wher a well placed ping will kill and otherwise helthy network(not to menction any names, but you can insert your least favorat OS here, and I am sure that you will) But this divergence is minamal and way off topic. What hit yahoo (and btw buy.com) does not fall into this catogory of hit. further more all this talk about the people this and that is not going to go any ware (or ther would be not terrorism you yutzes)
How many servers does your company have?

Even if they chare $100 per copy of W2K If you put it on 10 machines you are at $1000.
It is very easy to defeat the GPL if they are the only ones that are going to use it. All they have to do is say "Changes, what changes? We did not make any changes." Or do you think that thees guys are not capable of lying? Now that whe know about the NSA, who is in charge?
Not that it maters, and yes I did ask for it, but that was a spelling mistake not a gramer one. Corect word, incorect spelling. Oh well I guess it is back to grade school for me.^x
It changes lots. How many companys can you be CEO of, how bout president, software archatect? If they are going to be split into baby bills you can damned well be sure that Gates is going to figure out a way that he can run them all. One title per company. Mayby he will become a "consultant" for all of them. Or just smoke filled rooms and the like. But you can bet your bottom $$ that this is in responce to the press lately about the break up.
Oh B.T.W I am not too shure of the NSA telling me not to use the OS that CDC says it the most secure.... but then again why do I belive a bunch of hackers (if you don't like the word give me a better one) when they say "use this OS we have problems getting into it, realy."
As far as them relecing the source I can't help but remember a case about a compiler and telnet. Wondering if they have some sort of nasty way like that of putting a back door in the encryiption without letting on.
Sez who? Or just name an OS that is more secure out of the box. And if you say any of the linuxes pleas back your statements up with facts, not fealings and intuition
If you have been using the same box for 9 years I have got to tell you about some wonderfull advances that have been made in both hardware nad operating systems latly. the first one is some crazy guy with a pengan fetish has written from scratch a UNIX kernal and get this he is GIVING it away. the second thing is that you are no longer limited to 33Mz some newer prosseser are cabeble of running at clock speeds greater than 100Mz.
2 out of the three privious replys to you question have oviously never used any BSD. It is true that freeBSD is not the most secure os on the planet, acording the the guys at the Cult of the Dead Cow that distinction belongs to openBSD. and as for preformance freeBSD tends to run linux apps faster than read hat, which admitedly is no large feet. But yes freeBSD comes with Xfree86 and will run any window maniger that linux will. It is also far more sable and like I said earlyer faster. But don't trust me check out the hardware that WCCDrom uses to searve with freeBSD and I think that you will be impressed with the sheer power of santa himself.
That is a philosophy, not a religion. And yes ther is a signifiacant diferance.
and No I can't spell.
Oh I guess he is smarter than me about 1 mill smarter.
He ran out of gas.

And yes I know that I have bad spelling!!!

corect, but how does that effect the point? Or would you like to take a stab at my spelling while you are at it?

eel is verry interested (don't you just love people who refer to them selves) if any body has any information on this artical I would love to read it.
Two words: spagetti code
telnet, cc, need I say more?

Cross breeding and artifisial insemination of diferent species is, well, er, a whole diferent cat, or perhaps a horse of a diferent color.
That is if it where a dog, not a cat. But seriously folks, remember when people used to say "Extinction is forever"?
Don't appologise. Just don't do it. If you want to sell sompthing this is not the time or place.
Last year the machine that is at #23 was the #1 non-clasified. Things change. Maby next year.
