Growing meat is _not_ necessarily less efficient than growing crops. Welsh lamb, for example - the sheep are often let loose on non-agricultural land, and require very little maintenance. You could not do anything with that land, in terms of growing crops, without massive innefficiencies. If we were to go to mars, man hours would be a very valuable resource, and managing crops in innapropriate terrain which livestock could easily graze seems a stupid waste of people's time.

Freedom of speech does not only imply that, it expressly allows that, by its very name. If there are restrictions on freedom of speech, it is not freedom of speech. Freedom of speech is nonexistant in any current society, and for good reason IMO. This weird definition of "freedom of speech" that some people have that has loads of caveats is not freedom of speech, it's purely demarcation of allowed speech in certain areas. You have set yourself up to judge which entities have souls, it just happens to coincide with animals that we've bred to live alongside us, and excludes some "nasty" humans in your opinion.

This past winter the UK has been frozen for weeks at a time, as well as having quite a lot of snowfall... and the UK is one of the warmer places in Europe. The airspace closures were absolutely _not_ entirely based on computer models, there is lots of clear evidence there is volcanic ash in the atmosphere over much of northern Europe at the moment.

I'm all for calling the goverment out for nannying when they are, but I'm not sure they are now. Unless you know something no one else in the world does - ie. the extent and density of the volcanic ash, you've got no real basis for assertions of fearmongering.

I used to use, but I got caught once, and moved on because I can't afford to get caught again. I used occasional weekends, and it was great. It did absolutely 0 harm to my work, did 0 harm to my social life. I quit it just because of the illegality..

I know in lab tests on rats cocaine is a scary drug. Rats dependant on both heroin and cocaine will always hit the cocaine first when withdrawing. I don't take cocaine any more because I got caught once, and if I get caught again, I'll probably be at least on community service. So I've been taking less well know drugs, which are legal, like mephedrone. That's becoming illegal tomorrow here (UK), so I'll move on to something like naphyrone.

Regulation is key, but banning stuff is stupid. There are an estimate one million cocaine users in the UK... that of a total population of 60 million or so. Cocaine possession has a maximum sentence of 7 years in prison. Imprisoning responsible users of drugs is absolutely suicidal for the government, since it'd have to lock at least 5% of the adult working population up.

I _absolutely_ agree that people should be held accountable for their actions, whether high, drunk, or anything. The war on drugs has not worked, at all. What it has done is criminalised loads of people who should not have been criminalised. What it has also done is pushed people onto legal drugs that may well be more harmful. Like I said before, I absolutely agree with regulation, and even taxation of drugs... banning them has been shown to absolutely not work.
