Smart comments. Let me put this another way. Really good engineers/designers/analysts seem to "know" just what their clients need. EXCEPTIONAL engineers/designers/analysts work hard to DISCOVER what their clients need via TONS OF INTERVIEWS. That Requires A Lot of People Skillz.
Yep, after thinking about it for a bit, your post at http://slashdot.org/comments.pl?sid=232405&cid=189 07821 is right on. I stand corrected. Rather than saying "no" to your comments I'd rather say "yes, and" - I feel that a Beta release is not ready for production; that major bugs should have been discovered and remediated in house(your point), and that bug finding is still a part of Beta release testing (my point). Can you back that at all? Or do you really think that a Beta release should be a full production-quality release?
I think *you* are missing the point of Beta testing. From Wiki: Key word UNSTABLE. Read on:
"Beta version software is likely to be useful for internal demonstrations and previews to select customers, but unstable and not yet ready for release. Some developers refer to this stage as a preview, a prototype, a technical preview (TP) or as an early access."
Just because the iPhone has a limited Javascript engine made to work specifically with a few Google ajax applications does NOT mean it supports full Ajax capacity. Try taking one of your nightly builds for a spin on Google Calendar and you will see what I mean.
I'm sick of you retards parroting tired memes instead of engaging in legitimate discussion. Uh, like you are doing now? Get a grip (on your sphincter) buddy!
You know what's funny about Beryl/Vista ? They're doing the same stuff the Mac was doing years ago on puny hardware. ...that only ran on a few pieces of hardware in the world in a locked down proprietary system. (say it with me everyone) SHUT THE FUCK UP DAMN APPLE FANBOY!
CD sales dropped about 50% first quarter 2007 vs first quarter 2006. Ok, the CD is not dead, but the mortal wound has been applied. CD will go the way of record - it's only a matter of time. Download services are catching up to quality; EMI is not quite offering CD quality downloadable music, but they are beginning their push into "quality DRM-less music" in case you have not actually read the news lately: http://www.emigroup.com/Press/2007/press18.htm
You are a fool if you think the CD is going to last much longer.
Look moron, I legally pay for TV shows off of iTunes, and I save myself the hassle of not having to watch inane commercials. I also now legally download the one or 2 good tracks off of iTunes instead of wasting my money buying overprices CD's at your BS shops. Can you blame me? The world is changing and CD is dead. DEAD DEAD DEAD.
Time for you to get a real job when you are done filing for bankruptcy. (If you have any ACTUAL skills)
Safari for the iPhone will be stripped down. You really expect the iPhone version of Safari to support full Ajax functionality? Yea, right. You obviously have not actually written code to support Safari. It's unforgivable in the fact that it poorly renders pages that do not EXACTLY meet standards. Nice in theory, poor in the real world. Steve Jobs once again trying to warp reality. Internet Explorer 7 is even more evil as you rightly say - try just putting HTML Comments BEFORE your html tag and watch the crap that goes down. Firefox 2.0 *queue the sound of angels* has met the ACID test for CSS-2 for some time now. CSS-3 is just not relevant now.
*quoting from another post*
To be fair, most of CSS-3 is still in the "working draft" stage. Some things (like text-shadow) were easy pickings for a rich text layout engine like the one in Mac OS X. But even these have the webkit prefix in case the standards change before finalization. Webkit still has a few edge cases that could use improvement in CSS-2. And gosh knows they need some hefty work on their Javascript engine (but that's another huge set of standards problems).
Firefox 2.0 rules, especially when it comes to Ajax. Safari is unforgiving, and ie 7 is plain ol evil.
Oh great, now I get to code to a stripped down "semi-standards" unforgivable browser this is the crap called Safari? And you call that a "business solution"? hahahahahahahahahah!
Sure fuck my girlfriend, who cares. I'm still your boss, I still make more money than you, I still actually have career options, the possibility to buy a home and have a real adult life. Sure, fuck my 2 timing girlfriend, thanks for taking the ho' off my hands. While I go and develop a real life and continue dating real women who fuck me just fine and have more class on their little finger than you will ever have. And yes, I'll be sure to tip you well when you dry the windows of my jag at the car wash.
Yea, but does it run Linux? Oh wait....
Coderz dont spell (or type) well, get ovr tit!
Uh, a petty criminal would be able to lift and use a fingerprint from someone home? Get a grip, man!

Coal is neither small-scale or a renewable project. RTFA.

I thought all of Google was still in Beta?
I have an idea, let come up with non-volatile computer memory that can be electrically erased and reprogrammed without the need for motors or platers?
Why not just trump the operating system war and build your (non vid game) apps with Java? Java 6 GUI performance is outstanding.
I think you are the first person in the world to ever use that sentence.

Video Gamers, DUH! And we are talking about a multi-billion market! I need more FPS for F.E.A.R !!
You feed me, you feed the Troll by proxy, Moron.

I was wrong and you are right. I already made my confession/admission of guilt at http://slashdot.org/comments.pl?sid=230833&cid=187 38087
My favorite rules:

Rule 113: Always have sex with the boss.

Sorry, I was dreaming.
