If MS didn't assimilate everything under the sun and instead took a more friendly 'partnership' approach to innovating companies they probably wouldn't garner this image. The thing I dislike the most is how they can't seem to slow down and perfect XP and its security issues - they just HAVE to have a copycat to OSX asap. pfffft. People are getting tired of forced upgrades when the existing OS is just fine and dandy.
10 years from now we'll all be talking about how good we had it with CDs when all the current 14-30 year-olds grow older and have discretionary income then realize how utterly duped they were when they fire up their 128kbps downloads on their new $5,000 audio systems. The RIAA is laughing all the way to the bank over low bitrate downloading and DRM because they know you'll have to buy it over again one day - dont feed the pig!
I'll keep ripping my CDs into VBR0-highest mp3 for the time being and hang onto the source CD; not like it takes up that much closet space.
Its good to be the king.
Access lists and levels are quite useful when you as IT know better than the average user what constitutes a trustworthy site.

Ever since implementing Fortigate Router bundles in all of my offices, which include AV, Antispam, IPS and Content Filtering services, user-induced havoc is much less of a concern for us. I've been called a Nazi a few times since turning on certain webfiltering but I usually laugh and tell my users to take it up with the boss to have their favorite gambling/file storage/message board/etc unblocked and the subject is immediately dropped. lol.
Price vs performance I personally dont think these appliances can be beaten. Good news is they're about to go IPO as well.
Did MS ever hear of the bauhaus design theory at all? Last thing I care for is an OS that tries its hardest to blow moonbeams and fluffy bunnies up my ass.
If you cant go back to the no-frills win2k classic interface I plan to squeeze every last drop of life out of XP Pro. That is, until M$ does evil things to force people to upgrade, like releasing Vista-specific software and dropping patches for XP altogether.
Now if someone could just get across to Yahoo that the acquisition and crushing of All Seeing Eye over not getting their way in a lawsuit with XFire is pissing off alot of gamers, perhaps people would gain a bit of insight as to why Yahoo is generally loathed only slightly less than AOL.
nice to see all the anonymous cowards come out of the woodwork in order to give me the proverbial slap on the wrists. lol.
moldy old. slashdot appears to be quite adept at recycling 2-week old news lately.
http://www.commroot.com With a little effort this set of domain names could be generating some significant revenue.
