...and a nifty hibernate mode as well that saves your system state (probably to the HD) and completely powers everything down.
Ummm, you do realize that hibernation has been a feature of Windows since 98, right? That is unless they've completely overhauled how it's done. Since this is MS we're talking about, I highly doubt that...
I assume you will be using this with the plethora of original HD content you have produced yourself? If not, the only thing this gets you is the ability to store an entire season (or two or three) of a show in H.264/DivX/XviD/whatever format on a single disc. Then there's always the assumption that it will have the appropriate codec to play it (well, it'll definitely do H.264). I'm sure that more rampant piracy is exactly what they media producers want.
While I admit that the 2600 version of PacMan was halfway decent for the time (especially considering the hardware, etc), the point was that they manufactured more cartridges than there were even machines that could play it.
By this reasoning, Pac-Man and ET were the most popular and best-selling Atari 2600 games ever produced. I think most of us know what the truth is about those two, though.
Just further shows that the "editors" don't even "get" their roles as editors. Attributing words that weren't written to the submitter is not something they should be doing. Or if they do, they should use the standard square brackets to indicate that those words weren't said, but were what was implied. Changing the title is fine. Adding additional commentary or extra sources (as Zonk did with the 'From the ZDNet article' bit) is fine. Putting words in people's mouths is a HUGE editorial no-no.
The key word here is 'appears'. When subjected to double-blind studies, the results of homepathic medicine are totally inconsistent, generally on the side of failing.
I'm guessing you missed the part where the blog entry linked in the summary that advocates the use of this unofficial patch is titled "Trustworthy Computing".
It's a thing called sarcasm. MS are the ones pushing "trustworthy computing" but are showing that at a time like this, they can't be trusted to do the right thing.
I guess you wouldn't classify slashdot as a news aggregator site then, would you? If it did use RSS for it's stories then that could be an excuse for the dupes, but that's not the case. (And yes, I'm aware that the sidebars are RSS based, but I rarely use those). Maybe my wording wasn't too clear, but the sites that I use are based on humans approving stories.

Ooooooohhhh! Spinny AND shiny!
These chargers are affectionately called Wall-marts...
I think you mean wall-wart. Huge difference from a wall-mart...
Exactly! ;-)
I can't even begin to tell you how many times I've passed up opportunities to get laid because I was just too busy deleting spam...
Perhaps he should contact his friend in Nigeria.
Actually, they'd better get cracking on some HDMI swithcers and HDMI-switching capable amplifiers...
Several companies are already making these. Here's one I came across. Of course, the price could stand to come down quite a bit...
If it's an HDCP DVI port, it's compatible with HDMI. You just need a $20 cable adapter.

If that's the case, who'd like to form a nice little tech company with me?
I'm in. I call dibs on the CEO position. : p
...fill in the WHOLE bubble Grandma, then put your thumbprint in the corner
Ahhh, let's hear it for our anonymous voting system...
Anyone wanna bet that this is the only piece of hardware that Infinium ever ships?
Hey man! I was 6 gawdammit! >: O

Wasn't that same JiffyPop diagram used for another article recently?
Ummm, isn't snarfing when you blow large quantities of liquid out your nose?
I take it your friend is dyslexic?

Best dupes of the year, maybe? Then it can be filed under the meta-category of 'tripe'.
