Uhm, I'm not a mechanic, but I think its impossible to run a car without any oil. Maybe short on oil, but not if most of it drained out on your driveway.
I work for a partner of AT&T, and I can say that they are so disorganized the left foot doesn't know wht the right foot is doing. There are good people there, but more often than not, those are the people that get screwed by upper management, which ends up screwing the service they are offering.
The problem with that is Apple has already stated they are only breaking even on the iTMS. It is the iPod sales they are really after. iTMS is a value-add option for the iPod, and makes the whole platform much more envyable. By selling music to others on different platforms, they get sidetracked from what they are really doing.
Individuals are having their rights violated because they didn't know the crime lab could tie them to a crime after they left cigarette butts at a crime scene.
Now, if it were law that all cars have recorders to "monitor" all your bad driving habits, then yeah I would be concerned. But that is not what is happening. They used evidence to convict somebody, and didn't even put him in jail for that long.
If parents don't want their children to watch something, or find it offensive to watch themselves, why should they be not allowed to raise their kids the way they see fit?
I don't understand why individuals are getting bent out of shape because other people want to live their life a particular way. I don't agree with a lot of things that other parents do but you know what? They are not my kids. I don't have any more right to say what your kids can and can't do than you do mine.
I could give a rats ass about director's vision. I watch a movie to be entertained. If I chose NOT to watch a movie because it goes against my standards, how is that different by deciding to watch a movie but not the parts the I'm offended by? How does that affect the grand vision of the director?
I'm all for art, but artists need to get off fucking snobby high horses.
The point with this new RCA contraption is that the movie itself is not modified. Pop the DVD out, and lend it to the neighbors, and they'll see it normally version.
And I'm sure that this new feature also can be turned off, or bypassed with Parental Control. That way, if your child wants to watch a movie, they see the PG version, but the adults can see the R version.
The movie isn't modified, only parts skipped/bleeped. Production and distribution remains the same.
Uh, they aren't taking boobies away from you. It only gives that option to those who want to see the movie, but don't care for the "naughty bits".
I have to applaud RCA for providing this product. It will make everyone happy, if they would shut up and think for a minute..
1) RCA makes money on an innovative product 2) Producers make money selling more DVD's to people who would otherwise find their content objectionable. 3) Consumers get to enjoy more movies.
I didn't *miss* that point at all. I spelled out the fact that they can and will raise prices to suit their desire, since competition will cause their profits to go down.
Believe it or not, businesses losing market share and profit is a normal process of capitalism. Just like death is a normal part of life.
The point you missed here is, competition normally drives prices down. They know this too, thats why they want to artifically inflate prices so they can continue riding high.
We were in during the weekend and laid enough cable to bring up basic services by the following Monday, but inhaled unknown quantities of asbestos and compounds released from the burnt plastic and rubber.
Since when does rubber and plastic contain asbestos?
The point was, I think, that Epson thought they had to throw an all women team to identify how to sell to women better. I'm not saying that these women won't come up with something completely different, but it doesn't solve how these types of items are sold to women, which appears to be the main complaint.
While I don't disagree with you on the above statement, I don't see how it fits with women being treated differently when they shop for technology items.
We aren't talking about Slashdot, we are talking about Best Buy. The average consumer shopping at a megachain, guy or gal, is not anything like the average slashdotter. Talking down to someone because they are female is sexism, even if its unconcious.
The post I replied to before, and now this, proves my point. You are male, so you assume the world revolves men. I'm not blasted you, I'm just pointing out a nuance of life. I do it myself too sometimes.
And when I said "we go to talk to another guy", yes I meant men in general, as a whole, not as every single man in existance. Dumbass.
Are all men at a higher level of technical proficiency? It has nothing to do with actual abilities, it has to do with sexism. Guys automatically assume women don't know what they are doing, but when we go to talk to another guy, we are more apt to give them the benefit of the doubt.
I use Vonage (SIP Phone) on my nat/firewall connection at home, and it works perfectly fine. I'm not sure if you are aware how these technologies work at all...

Radio stations have been "shuffling" music for years. Why so much shock and disdain for people who do it at home?

Not signalling and singing along to the Backstreet Boys does NOT constitute being "stuck at nerd".
In fact, those things should be punishable by lethal injection.
How is my kid going to mess up your kid by not seeing boobies until they are older?
Riiiiiiiight. I think you need to kick that nasty habit.

THIS ISN'T CENSORSHIP!

Uh hello, this is a win-win for everybody!
I didn't miss that point at all. Just because I don't agree with their profit motives doesn't mean I'm a dumb socialist.
Believe it or not, losing market share and dwindling profit is a normal part of capitalism too. Just like death is part of life.

I'd say for 99 cents, you still aren't getting any value for your money for mainstream music.

that was my first thought too. Either this is fabricated, or someone is a complete idiot in managing/building the facility.

Pick a better neighborhood to get abducted in next time.
