I think someone is trying to be too politically correct. For ages it's been assumed that "he" and "man"/"mankind" may be used in a generic sense to refer to everyone, because English is already cumbersome enough as it is without having to write out "he or she" just to satisfy the hypersensitive knee-jerk reactionists out there.

False, plus there is nothing that Samsung can do to prevent electrolysis. This (letting the ports dry before connecting headphones or charger) is probably addressed in the documentation that comes with the phone - I'll find out on Tuesday. If it isn't mentioned in a quick start guide, it sure as hell should be.

The idea is telling a government "no" so no precedent is set. This is important as recent history shows that the FBI, NSA, TSA, etc. don't give a flying fuck about legality when it comes to their actions, and you know once they have that precedent set they will proceed with blanket surveillance, "for security." They've been regarding 1984 as an instruction manual rather than a warning.... and The People have been likewise regarding "Idiocracy" as an instruction manual rather than a warning.

Funny.. I use an ssd for vms and swap and although it's thrashed heavily when I fire up all the VMs at once I've lost no capacity and no errors have been reported. Reliability has been so solid I'm thinking of replacing the spindles in my server with SSDs in a RAID5 or RAID6 array.

There are occasional lemon SSD model runs... but that's true of all hard drive manufacturers as well.

Furthermore empirical evidence arising from analyses from quite a few data centers indicate that SSDs are more durable than hard drives at this point. Continued avoidance of the latest-generation SSDs is based on superstition, not evidence.

I hate it when ads display this ginormous layer over the page, with the close button rendering off screen, and if I try to zoom out, the image increases in size, regardless of smartphone browser (Chrome, Firefox, Dolphin). Safari is the same - I had to go back to my stone-age iPhone 4 for a few days after an OTA update soft-bricked my Galaxy. What is the intent of the marry/divorce mechanism in cars?

The intent is to reduce thefts of an item costing anywhere from $20K to $1mil, not to prevent your being able to use third-party items. I can tear out the head unit in my cars and replace them with third-party head units without having to marry the new head unit to the car. I will lose some functionality (the car's warning tones, speed-sensitive volume, etc.) but providing I install a CAN bus to bypass the OEM head unit, the car will not be bricked.

I'd like to see "reasonable and prudent" that Montana had come back, and to be made nationwide for rural highway zones.

    Why?

200mph on rural highways with very light traffic in good weather conditions is very safe, especially once you're in the Midwest.

I'd also like to see 45mph in very busy highway interchanges (downtown Providence, I'm looking at you) strictly enforced. Besides our interstates were designed for safe travel at 120-130mph based on 1960s vechicle technology (crappy suspensions, steering boxes, drum brakes) not modern vehicles where your average family sedan offers better performance than that era's sports and muscle cars.

I would also like to see turn indicators and rights of way enforced as well (and in that vein, I also want a pony!)

I'd like to see actual problems enforced (reckless driving, failure to yield the right of way, failure to use turn indicators (when others are around*), merging properly (merging lanes and on and off ramps have no legal speed limit to encourage smooth merging. DON'T come to a dead stop at the bottom of an onramp or end of merge lane because you can accelerate as fast as needed to merge smoothly then slow back to the posted limit on the highway you just merged) and driving too slowly (hindering the flow of traffic) and maintaining control of the vehicle (rather than meandering between three lanes at random while you're arguing with your ex) rather than needless laws such as "no handheld cellphone use" because the law is unnecessary when so many laws already cover the real problems. Reckless driving unfortunately goes unenforced most of the time.
