    I wish computers ran on magic because then when someone whose expertise way outside of what I do requests an explanation and struggles with the details but is insistent upon knowing them, I could say ", because magic" then they would accept that and say "I see."

    My anecdotal evidence is that if I am not quick enough with SoundHound (usually while driving) I google the lyrics then buy the content on CD or iTunes or Google Play. Music industry lawyers, your clients make more money by allowing the alleged "infringement" than not allowing it - just like in the days of Napster.

    Morons.

    Now for a more productive post: This is insanely stupid. Since DJs are a thing of the past the artist/title usually isn't announced so unless you have soundhound ready to go what you do is go home and query on the lyrics, find the artist/title on a lyrics site then go to Worst Buy, Sprawl*Mart, or Amazon or Google Play or iTunes and buy the music. They're shooting themselves in the foot yet again.

    Obviously the music industry STILL doesn't "get" teh interwebz.

At my house (I live in NH) we use oil heat and wood, but I am adding a heat pump for my basement office/home theater next year. I expect for several weeks in the winter I will be back to space heaters when it dips below zero - and it will get that cold.

    As far as Wince patents are concerned, a lot of them should start expiring soon, but of course Microsoft & Co. will pull a Sunny Bono and manage to get patents extended for lifetime of creator + 95 years.

    They also claimed self-buttering toast but really that was my invention. I never brought it to market because the bread market bullied me and took the patents.     In some jurisdictions the legal definition of reckless requires that other drivers have to react in an evasive measure.

    It is much more difficult to obtain a driver's license there, and keep right (or keep center when there is a travel lane)/pass left is strictly enforced, as is DUI.

    Hmm, Germany seems to handle this just fine with unlimited speed in rural areas.

    Again, Federal Interstate system, modeled after autobahn, and again, rural areas. You never see decreasing radius turns on Interstates - bends are constant and ones in rural areas are very easily traversed at 2-3 times the posted limit even in sedans.

    Hell, the system was designed for safe 120-130mph travel in the 1960s, based on average suspension, brake, and tire designs of the time. Even a lowly sedan will outhandle a Ferrari or Corvette from that era.
