No? Fair enough, and I see your point (and agree). Would you buy this: Christopher Walken eases the pain of watching Gigli such that you don't have to gouge your eyes out after having seen it.

All one needs to do is read the guidelines to know the goal is to mod up to improve the signal-to-noise ratio, not to mod down.

"Harvard's Jack Goldsmith and Lawrence Lessig have an interesting op-ed in Friday's Washington Post, arguing that it would be constitutionally dubious for President Obama to adopt the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA) as an executive agreement.

It is unconstitutional to vote on changes to a bill and deem that vote as the bill in entirety having passed, and then sign that into law, and yet it happened this week. Where house leaders and the President have stated many times they don't care about rules and process, but about getting things done, don't expect ACTA to have to require 2/3 senatorial approval. Under the current admnistration, executive order will be deemed sufficient, Constitution be damned.

Besides, how much has the Constitution mattered under any of the current and previous three administrations anyhow?

    One word retort:

    Bing!

    Elaboration:

Microsoft has desperately been trying to break into advertising, to be where Google is. Microsoft knows they have peaked so they have been trying to push software rentals ("subscriptions") and cloud computing, which any sentient being crunching the numbers will reject, and they have been trying to get into the search engine and advertising business, first with MSN, then MSNBC, and now they've bought another search engine technology and called it Bing! Although to you and me Bing! would be a huge success, but compared to Google, the search engine business is pennies to Microsoft and they consider it critical, because much like a dog, with Microsoft it is not in the having, but in the getting. Microsoft wants to break into advertising (and thus search engines) so that they can at least plateau, if not grow again. Bing is Microsoft's answer to Google, and no, Microsoft is not all about "selling software products straight-out," or at least they do not wish to be perceived as such.

Now that there are a lot of 3D solutions for PCs that actually work, I'd love to see a new version of Descent.

I have NO interest in 3D television. I've seen it back when Pepsi did that 3D superbowl commercial - it was the only superbowl I ever watched and it was to see the 3D advert, and it's nice and all, but I don't want 3D television. Why? If it introduces ANY flicker, I am not interested. If it tempts directors to have things move toward the camera just for the 3D effect, like most 3D movies, it will degrade the quality of productions. Thanks, but no thanks.

What I care about in a television is 120Hz (I see the "stop motion" effect on the big screen throughout the films and I find it really distracting and the 120Hz eliminates that distraction), good black levels and great contrast ratios, and of course, halfway decent sound. Internet "widgets" are a plus, as is online firmware updates, but not a requirement (I rarely ever use the widgets on my Samsung LN46B650 because most of the widgets are so horrible). Widgets for Hulu, Crackle, and most importantly Netflix would be a big WIN.

But 3D? I won't say no one needs it, because I'd be like the open source zealots who try to use Linux for every single client, but I will say that I think it will cause directors to focus (no pun intended) more on using cliche 3D gags than they will on the quality of the dialog.

Oh, and if you think pr0n is going to be the advent of 3D, like HDTV, do you really want to see herpes scars in 3D?
