My respect for limewire just went up ten fold.
As for the RIAA, I still loathe them.
I'm glad to see someone going for the jugular even though I somehow doubt this will accomplish anything.
Perhaps it will motivate other businesses to gather arms against the RIAA?
I was a senior about to head off to college and I thought "Hey.. I'm going to buy one of those fancy iPods so I can listen to music on the way to class."
So I bought one.
4 years later I walk around with my 1st generation iPod still. I notice other people around campus having minis, nanos, shuffles, regular iPods.. but you know what? I never bought a new one. In my statistics class I remember the professor made everyone stand up who had one.. nearly 75% of the room had an iPod. Thats amazing.
My question is.. why would I spend another 300 dollars on a new iPod whenever I already have one that works fine? I'm sure other people feel the same.
I think that the information in this post is faulty. They correlated the wrong data. Instead they should have correlated the data against competing mp3 players instead of just total iPod sales.
Before, the privacy issues were out of hand. I didn't care to see who what left what group and what someone commented on someone else's picture. HOWEVER, i do like the changes now. a little news/gossip feed ain't bad in my opinion. id like to see some added pictures and/or friends to my network. especially as social as i am in college whenever one of my friends meets a new friend there is a chance that i met her too.
kudos facebook. okay idea on paper.. bad idea in real life. common sense move (privacy controls).. great product now.
WoW's addiction is easy to overcome. I play it every summer and quit in the fall when I go back to college. I guess my willpower is strong because I never had a problem quitting.
Honestly, once you hit 60 and experience everything its too repetitive for my tastes.
I had a 60 priest, rogue, and paly (rogue to 60, paly to 42 first summer.. priest to 60 and paly to 60 2nd summer.. and a 30 warlock).
But you know what? The game is amazingly boring. Why do I do it? Because I see my girlfriend every morning/afternoon.. I go to work around 4.. come home around 9 or 10 and I play WoW until 4am. I occasionally get drunk after work but I still play WoW after. But whats the point?
You get good gear from end game instances once you hit 60.
Then you get slightly better gear from raiding. I say slightly better because as a priest my end game instancing gear was pretty decent (not devout) and I had no problem healing MC, AQ20, ZQ, BWL, AQ40. Get even more upgrades like prophecy, benediction, and some good blues like wandering nomad boots or something.. decent rings.. trinkets.. etc.. but wait. I spent all this time to gain 20 mana per 5 seconds and +100 healing? Yes, this an upgrade and arguably awesome, but it's not worth the time and to spend so much time for something so little and pointless (I'm talking about in real life terms.. not in WoW) that I can't do it to myself anymore. Also, raiding the same stuff over and over again gets so boring after a while.
You guys are thinking about this totally wrong. Of course its a pretty bad idea but the real question is how much are your grandchildren going to sell that thing for to the musuem in 100 years? Its more of an investment in my opinion than a practical purchase. Or you can consistantly blow people's minds at car shows for the next 30 years or so. Maybe they will have flying cars in the future, but owning one of the first commercially released would be a collectors item. I hope nobody takes my post too seriously haha but I do think its somewhat of a valid viewpoint.
Perhaps someday a game will have the minimum requirements of an 80 core processor.

I personally thought games were getting extremely easy nowadays. I, for one, welcome more challenging games.
if you want to profitable you have to sell beer and ice cream at this gaming cafe... this devastating duo will ensure your success.
