  1. Re:Ignoring the Facts: defining "authoritarian" on Both Parties Ignore the Facts · · Score: 1

From what we can assume here in Europe, the last election was the most politicized the US has had for a long time, ie the core issues were discused about economy, security and US's role in the world. The general perception is that Americans don't believe that their life is going to get better through politics. Last elections' example though changed that. People have to realize that the only way to push society forward is through participation in the free exchange of ideas and involvment in politics, firstly by making an informed decision, ie. voting.

Its a legal, not a technical problem. I don't know about US, but in Europe we have electronic speed limiters for heavy vehicles, for trucks at 90km/h and buses at 100km/h. It's perfectly feasible to have a universal limit for eg 120 km/h to reduce the general risk, but what this GPS can do is to control the speed at much lower levels, eg. 50 km/h in residencial areas. Why can't we implement first the high speed limiters, and then we see how succesfull that would be in reducing casualties.

Hydrogen Economy and fuel cells are a troll. By putting a target too far away, the car companies and the petrol companies can explore the benefits of over-exploiting current practices. The most profitable cars to make and operate are SUV s and pickups, the ones least efficient. Look what happened to Europe with high petrol taxes. Over 80% of all vehicles run on (energy-efficient) diesel. If petroleum diesel is highly taxed and biodiesel has no tax, there's your clean economy.

Disaggree: After you've watched a performance, whether cinema or theatre, you are left with the sensation, the illusion, that you've been there and lived the story. In this one, there is absolutely no moment where you have that feeling. (Ok, when the frame has no people perhaps). The actors look as if they want to go about their business and we (the filmakers, the viewers) are buggering them. (ok, this Russina President guy is an exeption). There are so many talented people in drama schools. Why did they have to choose these lot? Good story, good setting, good graphic art bad, very bad acting.
