wired's cover story this month is about the superproducers in the industry. really limited article, but worth buying. talks about the people who are trying different things and making great albums.
so me and this girl are totally googling and she's all like if you google me first i'll totally google you. so i get all set to google and she backs out grabs her google and googles the fuck out of there. something about my website. i don't know. google her and the horse she googled in on.
the cappuccino is a cool grand on thinkgeek. also, think about the other uses a laptop could have, a fujitsu P series could be hauled around with a full OS on it with a long battery life for a full PC experience rather than all this mini-pc hype.
we need to go away from desktops with monitors into mobile PC's with larger screens at the desks or HUDs. oh a perfect world. we can dream can't we?
80 hours and $2100 for unused computer cycles is uncalled for. These judges and lawyers dont understand computers. in legal speak, i cant imagine what the prosecution was saying.
now poor david dnetc will be in an orange vest on the side of the highway picking up trash with joe shmoe robber and drunken steve who beat up a guy at a bar. good luck.
check out battle realms. it's a RTS and seems like it'll tide people over until warcraft 3.
also, for xbox there is tony hawk 2x. it's tony hawk 2 and tony hawk 1 w/ manuals. then there are 5 new "xbox only" levels. it's hellah fun and i haven't stopped playing for a week.
also, dragon warrior 7 is a throw back to old RPG's in the early 90's with graphics and music and length(supposed 100+ hours of gametime).
i've also been playing alot of operation flashpoint and ghost recon for those "i wanna be a soldier, but don't have the real discipline" nights.
what i want to know is why when a domain expires, it doesn't really "expire". I assumed that an expiration date means that the domain would go back into the open pool.
it seems like NSI is the only one holding domains after they expire. i personally let 3 domains lapse and using directnic, they were put back into the pool that day.
are the amusement companies going to just strut the robot around as is for that much money? or are they going to put their character costumes over it.
i can see it now, "Mickey, take a picture with me."
"What did you say?" while picking up it's arm and twiddling its fingers.
The flash goes off and it fritzes out circa Itchy and Scratchy land.
And are Asimov's laws really what the developers are going to follow presently or in the future? The major funding comes from the military and giant corporations, and we all know they want killing machines or mindless drones. So we have soldiers and slaves, it just doesn't seem like a good future.
curious about dreamcast controller hacks

i was more interested in the "dreamcast controller hacks" aspect of the post.
what exactly is available and what where you looking for?
dreamcast is now only 80 dollars, a keyboard is 20, plus 20 more for a mouse. add 60 for a broadband adapter and you have a pretty well rounded game console. also, in the coming months, dreamcast stuff will start appearing in funcoland`s and the like and stuff will be cheaper.
also, there are tons of cool stuff like nester dc or a vcd player, a divx player, and tons of other stuff including linuxdc
i`m looking for a hack for adding other controllers such as an old nintendo controller to play on dreamcast.
in a perfect world, the best parts of linux and be would be combined into a great OS.
i think that Be would give linux the push it needs to become the desktop OS that everyone wants. With Be's great multimedia support, Be and Linux could create that OS that everyone dreams of.
if the right people got together and used the basis of Linux and Be, it could be beautiful.
i was in almost the same exact class. the teacher explained that everyone should use Visual Studio 6, because that is what is provided by the school.
All i had to do was raise my hand and ask if i could use vi and g++ on my personal linux box and he was almost overcome with joy, i actually had previous knowledge.
After i asked, the teacher had to explain what vi, g++ and linux was to the class. Seems a lot more people are coming into computers for money and not the love of the game.
just ask if you can, usually they are flexible for students who actually have some original thinking in their skulls. Also, on the plus side, they will probably remember you and possibly favor you for taking a unique approach to the first problem of the class.
i've been doing some research on the picture book and it seems a native of slashdot has one. he also seems to have gotten linux and just about every feature working.
also, i was concerned about not being able to use the firewire camera(anyone read cryptonomicon?) think of how cool it would be to have running under linux. So check out : camera capture program
it's all very spiff. it will be doubly cool(no pun) when the transmeta chip gets in there.

i love the lain series, but don't scour the web for stuff about it all the time. thanks for posting this.
on a side note:
quit bitching. who has the right to say what can and can not be posted on slashdot. It's a news site. supposed CmdrTaco liked anime when he first started posting stuff on the site. HEY quit posting stuff about linux, this is an anime site.
For a bunch of people who claim to be open minded and all for free information and free exchange, you bitch about it WAY too much.
phew. screw karma...keep sending me the news.

Well, which big pocketed corporation is going to file the first lawsuit? In lew of the "code is free speech" are these cases going to be harder to attack the coders?
I can't wait for all the legal follow up articles to this.
First off, here is a link to the "true story behind the movie". It's the anti-scientologists thoughts on how the movie is a big advertisement and recruitment flick for scientology.(WHATEVER)
Personally, i don't care what beliefs are behind a movie. Religions, in my eyes, are just based on a bunch of metaphoric truths. In the Matrix, the whole trinity, rebirth hooplah was prominent, but it didn't make me want to goto church and praise god. I'm going to go see Battlefield Earth as a big budget scifi flick and hope to GOD that it's better than pitch black.
so theoretically, i can use this to program my most superficial characteristics into this device and wear it around to pick up a trophy girlfriend? Sounds like fun.
I don't understand why everyone complains. 3 days after they hit the market, someone will have a site up where they took it apart and the pictures of the insides. After that, more sites will come up with the protocol for communication, and how to make one out of an AM radio and some tin foil. Then finally after 2 weeks, the news will get a hold of it and it will slowly disappear into the likes of tamogatchi and every other pet rock fad. Let it come...and let it go.
is this the test of GPL in the courts everyone has been waiting for?

is $200,000 going to be enough for legal expenses when you accept the prize and Microsoft comes at you with all their legal guns ablazing?

haven't you ever heard of a little thing called super villians?
007 can't crack those coded messages in his head without Q now can he?
