    Dont forget services such as VoIP that probably directly eats into your ISP's profits.
    IMs are replacing texts (which can make phone companies around $10000 per MB).

    In the future more entertainment will be streamed & downloaded. We'll possibly end up
    with a pay-per-view system of some kind but your ISP will want you to pay them for it too.
    They've been trying to extort money with BBC Iplayer.

    Hopefully in the future it might also stop evil companies like Phorm & BT from stripping
    charity adverts from pages and replacing them with their own.

    Its The War On Drugs or The War Against Terror again..

    Thats so next budget they can say "Look we had a great year, we shut down X thousand websites but piracy is still on the increase so we need tougher laws and more taxpayer money spent".

    The state doing it is more likely to cost more. Also, they're more likely to have delays, cost overruns and just drop
    the whole idea when they cant get it to work after 5 years and £200million wasted.

    A) There is no way anyone has information on this system that would be negative toward it's image.

    Yes because underhanded dirty tricks to increase greed for corporations never get leaked. (ACTA)

    B) People won't even bother to buy the new console and stick with the 360

    Until they start to upgrade their stuff to only support the new console and stop support for the 360. (DX10,XP)

    C) What if you change systems, buy a second new system, or these systems fail as often as the 360 (hope not)

    It wont be long until we get that.

    With RFID & NFC electronics in so many devices & ID cards, how long until governments or even advertisers start putting scanners in public buildings, banks, schools, malls or even street corners. You dont need to be able to decode the info to create a unique fingerprint to identify people's movements.

    Walmart could figure out how long each person spends down which aisle.
    Next time theres a crime you can see who was in the area at the time (useful for identiffying suspects or witnesses).

    I agree but agreeing to "Company G storing your data in various locations around the world" isn't giving up your privacy and I'm sure G's lawyers & lobbyists will quite gladly spend time & money making a few judges agree.

    No, because its about making a point. If Google starts to delist thing just because they disagree with something then where will it end.
    Should they delist Apple because they're a competitor who condones slave labour in China?
    Should they delist religions because they are evil, offensive and promote hatred?

    I know its more power than you need but for $25/$35 I dont mind.

    I was thinking of an ethernet/bluetooth device that can be controlled by an android phone.
    Being able to switch lights/heating/security on and off from a portable device would be very useful
    to me due to my disability.

    It might even be powerful enough to attach a webcam for some simple CCTV/motion detection.

    The point is they're supposed to be disposable/breakable. Adding that much ram would increase costs and dimensions i'd bet.
    You'd probably be better off buying a cheap android tablet.

    Either way I these devices will be great for home automation.
    Low power enough to sit behind a light switch but powerful enough to handle monitoring
    lights, temperatures and a lot more.
