    Or just lower the QoS... routing data over satellite links instead of terrestrial ones, inserting lag or 'losing' packets.

    There are many ways to make a service unusable without blocking it.

    I think its more about A-la Carte software.

    You buy Windows Basic then pay for your DLC/Extras. A few extra $$ for Media Centre or even Dolby support (now its not included).
    Office can have clip-art packs, exporting to older formats,
    Photoshop could drop its price then charge for every little add-on, file format or whatever.

    It they can do that why cant they do something more useful like make the change visual. Tattoo goes red you're in trouble with no need to keep

    Seriously, I think this is good - as long as it's clearly marked on the box/digital 'packaging' so that people can make informed choices, let them.

    How visible is this logo going to be on Ebay, Playtrade or any online marketplace. You can bet ebay sellers wont advertise the "you have to pay another $10" part.

    You can set Postfix to pass incoming mail through something like Amavis before its sorted that will do spam/AV checks allowing Postfix to reject/bounce it.

    Unfortunately with the US legal system as corrupted as it is today, they might win this time.

    One corporation with (effectively) unlimited resources against another corporation with (effectively) unlimited resources. I guess it'll come down to which has more/better lobbying power.
