  1. Marcelo Tosatti on Linux 2.4.15 is out; Linux 2.5.0 has also begun. · · Score: 1

Why is Marcelo Tosatti maintaining the 2.4.x tree?
Is Alan Cox still tied up in 2.2.x maintenance or is he just tired of maintaining stable trees?

Anyone know more about this guy?
I know he's been a kernel hacker for a long time and has done some work with linux-ha project.

    How is this flamebait???!!?!

Actually snail movement is quite interesting.
But I don't think you would need 32,000 frames
    per second to image that.

400 fps would be enough. The only problem is resolution however. The snail secreting its mucus
would be extremely intresting to watch up close.
Of course another thing that would be intresting to watch with snails is what they do on a hot frying pan.

And if you thought that this was a troll post, it's not. It's actually a weak attempt at humor.

I've read many comments in which people say they refuse to consider PostgreSQL until it shows up on tpc.org.

I think that this is a load of crap. From the TPC home page The TPC offers a full membership for a yearly fee of $9500 and an associate membership for a yearly fee of $1500.

$1500 is a lot of money for a free sofware project to shell out every year.

Maybe GreatBridge could join TPC on behalf of the PostgreSQL community(Yuck. I hate that word).

Going ever more offtopic with this one.

Would it help you if you saw it as naked capitalism: 'May the best product win'?

This has nothing to do with capitalism. For examples see Microsoft.

Capitalism is about everyone trying to make the most money. And most of the people losing. Forget about the American dream. It's has not worked for ages. (If it ever worked at all)

    Back ontopic.

The Konqueror seems like a nice browser judging from the screenshots. One thing I don't understand is the idea that in endorses the Everything is a browser-ideology. I don't understand why anyone would want that kind of UI.

I agree however with the original posters idea that we don't need another browser that is competing with all the others. check Mnemonic for a good example. GPL'd and extensible. Designed to be toolkit independent.

Code reuse should be one of Open Source/Free Software's greatest gains.

However under the Fair Use legistlation, which is in effect in most countries with a recent copyright law, you can make copies for your own use.

You still cannot redistribute them or even borrow them to your friend but you can make copies so that if the original media becomes faulty you can still use your backup.

<rant> I know that the media giants have been trying to make this illegal for as long as there have been VCRs. This time they might even succeed with the new additions to the copyright law and the new technology.

We the people must fight it at every turn.

As consumers we must demand that we get what we want. We don't want obscene copy protection. We want Fair Use.

ALL copyprotection schemes are flawed. If it can be viewed, it can be copied.

    Fight The Power.

O2 and H2 being dangerous for being explosive is just not true. If it is stored properly. That is, in chemical compounds. I saw a documentary that demonstrated the effects of a rifle shot to a tank filled with h2 in a chemical compound. It didn't explode, it just fizzled empty. A small flame was there but the temperature was nothing like the explosion caused by similar tank filled with gasoline.

And as far as the by-product goes.It can be used as source material when the fuel cell is recharged. Ever heard of electrolysis?

Heat in a fuel cell is negligible. Laptops generate about the same amount of heat.

I think that we would use cars powered with hydrogen if Oil Companies weren't so powerful and if Hindenburg hadn't exploded.

That really does not even begin to compare to all the harm he and the likes of him have done.
Just because he has donated some dollars to charity, does NOT make him exempt from all the harm caused. This just makes me sick. People are no better off because of charity. There have been billions of dollars worth of charity donated to various causes. Do you see that the world has been made any better? Poor countries are still getting poorer and the rich richer. Colonialism is still in effect all over the world and the 'developed' countries are the ones reaping the benefits. Colonialism is just being used by Big Corporations and not countries. And why? Because it fits their charter (Make Tons of Money for Shareholders).

Predatory business practices are now more commonplace than before Bill Gates published any of his books. Yes, people actually follow those who make a buck and not those whose moral is on a higher level.
Linux Penguin has been used and continues to be used to gather money for endangered animals and other charities.
