I hope you aren't basing this off of that Michael Moore movie. Cuba actually has two tiers of medical service, because they engage in a recent market called "medical tourism". Their facilities and services for foreigners is among the best in the world, however their service for civilians has no better system than Canada but far worse service due to only having a fraction of the resources other places have.
Yes I am, and I know that, but look at the parent I was quoting and responding to. They claimed, and I quote "Sony Ericsson... revenue surpasses the revenues of all of Apple's divisions combined."
That chip, being somewhere between Atom & Core2 I suppose, doesn't seem to me to good fit to any of Apple's existing products.
I think it does, but not where you are thinking. This could be a good fit for Airport, Apple TV, or other devices that may be in Apple's roadmap we don't know about. There might also be something in PA's roadmap that will make perfect sense when they release it in a few years. Another idea that I think makes sense: Apple is just after the people. PA doesn't have any Fabs, so it isn't completely unreasonable to end their product line. The people have a lot of experience with ARM, which Apple is currently using for mobile products.
Really? Sony Ericsson not only has a bigger marketshare, faster growth, but it's revenue surpasses the revenues of all of Apple's divisions combined.
Are you sure about all this? Using data from Wikipedia I have Sony Ericsson's net income as 1.582 billion while Apples is listed as 3.5 billion. For Revenue I have Sony Ericsson at 17.389 billion compared to Apple's 24.01 billion. BTW, all numbers are in USD, and Sony Ericsson's numbers were figured using Google's exchange rate calculator.
Jarred my memory, movie was "Screamers". And they were referred to as swords at least once, from IMDB: "Hendricksson: It's a sword, Jefferson. Take a look. They call it a Screamer. It was developed for us by an alliance on Earth to neutralize the war on the ground here"
Weren't the self-replicating robots Philip K. Dick had in one of his stories called SWORDS? The one with the Americans on the moon using them to unleash hell on the Soviets on earth if I recall correctly, I think there was a low-budget movie based on it.
You have to remember that public schools can't afford the best technical staff, and that Windows has a myriad of holes. I remember towards the end of my high school days we were always playing cat and mouse games with getting privileges we shouldn't get, then getting that hole plugged only to move on and find a new one.
Well, for one thing a triangle wave is not a saw wave (Wikipedia has decent articles on both, under Sawtooth wave and Triangle wave), but regardless I actually misspoke, I meant square wave. A sine wave and a square wave are indistinguishable to human perception at frequencies above 7,000 Hz. That is over half of the audible wave spectrum of humans.
Their 'indirect sound' trickery gives you "stereo" in the entire room, at the expense of a muddled sound.
I would never describe what I hear from a Bose sound as muddled. One thing I know they do though is put the same sound through every indirect speaker, but louder through the direct speaker as a cue for echolocation. If it is not set up properly, or if your perception of sound varies significantly from most the population than this could present a big problem. You shouldn't hear muddled sound though, as the brain does an excellent job at filtering out a lot of sound - in the case of a direct/indirect system the result should be clean sound or a constant echo - anything in between would be due to a non-standard model of hearing.
I hear this from audiophiles a lot, but everything I have studied about psychoacoustics totally supports everything I hear from Bose. I think audiophiles get caught up by the fact that Bose doesn't really care about the sound waves coming from their gear, they care about the perception of the sound waves coming from their gear. (Examples of why this difference matters: the inability of humans to distinguish between a sine wave and a saw wave at almost all frequencies and the inability to correctly echolocate a mono sound panned through stereo speakers.
I think you are dead on. I work in a steel warehouse, and we have about a dozen less people than we did last year, but wages are way up across the board. It seems to be the same at all the local plants - trying to encourage retention of good workers and focusing on efficiency.
If you ever spend some time in nature you will learn that it isn't only the modern world that is out to get you. The primitive world also seeks to destroy you at first available opportunity. Sometimes I think the slashdotters who never leave the basement are the enlightened ones...
Forcing people is wrong, but at every place I've ever worked there has always been at least a skeleton crew willing to work on days most people are off. If I thought it was okay/good to force people to work a holiday than I would be an incredible asshole. Asking if anyone wants to work is an entirely different thing.
I actually buy stuff that is on iTunes Plus (the higher quality, DRM free stuff). I buy from the non-plus on a few occasions, mainly for obscure artists that don't tour or don't play at any venues near me.
I actually think they are open on Christmas. You know not everyone is a Christian and celebrates Christian holidays. In addition there are some people not close/disowned from their families, and doing something productive (like working) is way better for their mental health than staying home alone. Wal-Mart employs a lot of people, I'm sure they can find people willing to work Christmas day at almost any location.
I use Webkit almost completely, but I also like the Awesomebar. The things holding me to Webkit are the find interface, keychain integration, and the combined stop/reload button. If someone would make extensions that would enable these in Firefox I would switch in a second.
I wasn't arguing that manipulation can be in our interest as much as I was saying that we are going to be subject to manipulation attempts. I think all manipulation attempts are not in the best interest of the people, as an educated people should be able to reach the proper conclusions without the sway of propaganda. But the government is always going to move in a direction that it believes is best for itself, which should be but often isn't the same as what is best for the people. When it comes to how the government goes about this I would rather them act in the poster/commercial/media form rather than more radical responses to threats (people disappearing, unwarranted arrests, labour camps, etc). In this case if the military views blogs as threats, I would rather them try to use their own blogs/bloggers to their advantage as a response rather than try to censor/eliminate voices. Basically I am pessimistic and believe that the government is going to lie to us, but I would rather have a lying democracy than a honest brutal dictatorship/one party system. I agree with you that a democracy with an honest and uncensored flow of information is one of the best and most eloquent systems of government - but I also think that it like true communism: it only exists on paper.
Go watch Dr. Strangelove. Now.
I come up with this stuff from several sources. Like articles and websites advertising such services.

Yeah, they don't really specify if that is the mean or the mode. I am pretty sure that isn't the median, but I could be wrong
The 810 has a keyboard. It is the 800 that is sans keyboard.

This explains perfectly why crocodiles survived for 200 million years while barely changing...

Sorry, but I need to undo my incorrect moderation to your post.
Why do you hate democracy?

In this case it actually wasn't a Rickroll. It actually is the opening of 2001.
