Sure and in ten years it'll be a 10% tax on everyone. When income tax was invented, it was a 1% tax on the very wealthiest, now it's a 25-40% on the middle class. When sales tax was started in my state (1965! How on earth did the government manage to function before that??), it was 1%, today it's 8% in most places. Give the government an inch of taxation, they'll nickel and dime it up a mile.
The OWS crowd simply wants to take the powers from the corporations and give them to the government. Sound great, but here's the problem: I can choose to not do business with Ford. I can choose not to buy a Ford. How do I choose not to do business with the government? Ford doesn't have the power to take my assets and throw me in prison if I choose to not buy their products, the government does. Period.
Government is out of control and is the greatest threat to personal liberty, property, and rights.
I've been using Firefox exclusively for six years now, and just this month I switched to Chromium. Firefox has tried so hard to duplicate Chrome that it's no longer a distinct, nor innovative browser. At this point it's simply a poor knock-off of Chrome. A poor knock-off full of memory leaks and bugs. I decided I might as well just use the real thing.
There have been a few minor FF features I've missed in Chromium, most of which I can rectify with extensions. Chrome is a far, far better browser though. You don't realize how disruptive it is to have to restart Firefox every 8 hours or so to free its several gigs of wasted RAM until suddenly you don't have to do it anymore.
Before working to add new features, why not first make it so you can use it for 5 minutes without it segfaulting? How about making it so your savefiles aren't constantly becoming corrupt? Kdenlive shows great promise, but it's the least stable piece of software I've ever used.
The worst part is I can no longer middle-click links in some posts in Firefox. Instead of opening the link in a new tab like it should, something in the broken javascript makes it open the parent, and move me around in the page so I first have to scroll around to find the post I was reading, right click the link, copy the URL, open a new tab and paste in. Major hassle. Same thing happens if I highlight a phrase to search.

Yes you are watched by a hundred hundred cameras on your way to work. But who cares, because NO ONE can sift through all that data unless they have a very specific purpose, and even then the data is so lossy the value in it is practically nil.
Sure, that's true for right now. But with storage media being so incredibly cheap most video, purchase history, and other data will probably be saved pretty much forever. It's only a matter of time before computer systems become significantly advanced to automatically scan through hundreds of thousands of hours of video, and compile it together with tens of thousands of other data sources and turn it into real privacy-invading reports on specific people.
Imagine in the year 2019 if your health insurance claims is denied because you've purchased too many twinkies and red meat steaks using your credit card (or shopper's "convenience" card) at the supermarket over the past 20 years. Imagine if you're fired from your job because a background check company's computers have found you on a traffic video chatting with a known criminal on a street corner 13 years ago.
I can feel your pain. I bought a hard drive on eBay that was "brand new" from a seller with 300 good feedbacks. Hooked it up and smartmontools tells me it has 12000 hours and several hundred power cycles on it.
I've found the best way to avoid problems is to buy from sellers who've been on eBay for a year or more. Fake sellers might have a few hundred feedback, but usually have only been selling for a few weeks or months.
The first plants on Earth weren't an extremely complex life form like asparagus, they were far simpler. I believe started with algae-like plant forms then evolved into moss-like plant forms, neither which start from seed, and both can survive in very harsh conditions with no soil nutrition. As these plants lived and died they started building up nutritious soil full of the organic matter necessary for the next generation of plants to grow.
If you were to throw some asparagus seeds on the surface of earth a few billion years ago, you'd also grow nothing.
As anyone who's ever grown a garden can attest, tossing some seeds out would do nothing but give you some dead seeds. They need to be carefully planted at a set depth into composted organic material rich with potash, phosphorus, and nitrogen. They also need to be watered thoroughly and regularly.
You then need a specific temperature for seed germination. Asparagus especially (as a perennial plant) requires a very specific weather cycle emulating the four seasons on earth.

Take a look at the murder rate by state and you will find that the lowest rate state is New Hampshire.
Strange how New Hampshire has some of the loosest gun laws in the nation. No permits, open carry, etc.
