In terms of economy and business this is good. The Internet has and will continue to offer a sort of global marketplace for consumers and businesses.
In terms of culture and society we have the Internet as a "Melting pot" of sorts.
In terms of Sci-Fi we are all becoming "assimilated". What I mean here is... Have you ever watched your friends playing video games and noticed the total picture of concentration on that television? Well, same goes for sitting at the computer. We all sit and stare at a screen, type and sometimes move the mouse. (in my mind's eye this is a little weird even though I spend 95% of my time on a computer)
IMHO I really hope that we don't become too dependent on the Internet. I mean, what happens when the lines of communication go down?
Another thing...
You can't compare sitting in a stall to the private acts we are talking about here.
We are ultimately talking about the safety of our country. I agree that people have rights, I am just saying that I trust the gov. not to take it to extremes.
So, I understand that it may be a violation of privacy, but...
If you aren't doing anything wrong whats the big deal?
I also realize that it is a little scary knowing that these guys can abuse their power. I have enough faith in my governemnt to say "Outta sight, outta mind." It kind of makes me wonder what all these people who feel their rights have been violated are hiding.
We need the left to keep the right in check, but we also need the right to keep the left in check. So, hopefully one day it will all even out. (yea, maybe that has nothing to do with this)
Once laptops overcome the upgrade/heat/speed issues I just might replace my desktop with a powerful, smaller (but big screened) upgradeable laptop.
Until then I'll stick to my desktop which, I am able to upgrade/cool/and have faster cpu.
It all comes down to reading the manuals and finding out what app will best fit your needs. Don't try to confuse yourself with the extras, but don't get software that doesn't give you what you want in terms of functionality. Right?
No one said "Why not?"

That is seriously the funniest thing ever.
Where was it said that "People who have power don't want to lose it."?
America is a strange country recently.
Or scared, if they know something is wrong. ha ha ha
I agree. Though commenting further would lead us away from the topic.
That reminds me of a movie. The main character was really paranoid of something, I don't remember what, but wasn't there a dog biting involved?
Weird movie though.

I guess you didn't read the entire post. Remember the left checks the right and the right checks the left. So therefore I feel safe.
I AM an American I live in OH. What do you mean ignorance?
I think it's pretty easy to figure out that my website isn't there to impress anyone. I keep it for fun.
You do have a point. But I maintain the idea of checks and balances between left and right.
