If I had mod points I would mod you up. Most articles on the BBC are followed by comments by people who do not understand the fundamental workings of the organisation. The BBC is an independent news organisation. It does not have to bend to the will of governments or advertisers. That is it's huge advantage over commercial news and TV broadcasts. You only need to watch some US news shows to understand why this is preferable to commercial TV news.

I'm pretty sure this is mainly because I have a deep routed love for free stuff and believe that it represents a better offering in terms of support, ease of use and cost.

I've never used my ISPs email address simply because if I change ISP, I would have to inform everybody that i'd switched.

Wasn't it something like 'in the areas north, south, east and west of Tikrit somewhat'. I can't remember the precise words, but see how listening to statements like that and believing them lead us into a war we shouldn't be in. The same is happening here with Iran. I don't think it'll matter how many inspectors they let into their plants, or how much negotiating goes on - they'll always be considered enemies because they're Islamic and don't like America.

  25. Re:patched already on Critical Security Hole in Linux Wi-Fi · · Score: 1

There's kinda the same issue with FreeBSD and wifi-drivers. However, last time I wanted to throw FBSD on a laptop, I installed the base system and then when it came to drivers for my Broadcom (puke) wireless PCMCIA card, there was a simple solution - ndiswrapper. All I had to do was run ndisgen and follow the on screen instructions. Granted, I had to quit and copy the Windows DLL and INF files onto the machine and then run the ndisgen again, but it generated me a .KO for use kldload and the wireless worked flawlessly. I know it's not the ideal situation - hardware manufacturers should be providing *nix drivers, or at least the documentation so that other communities/developers can do it for them. I'm sure it wouldn't harm their market share, in fact it might help it if all of us OpenSource nutters are dedicated to getting driver support for our hardware.
