  1. Re:Low ID Roll call on A Brief History of Slashdot Part 1, Chips & Dips · · Score: 1

Really, I'd like to see a list of when various account IDs were created. I know I've been around for a long time (I think 6-7 years or so) but I really don't know. But if I knew when 10000 was created, 100000, 200000, 1000000, etc... I could estimate. Plus is would just be interesting to see.

I re-registered with this account around October of 2005, to give a rough idea of when it hit 1,000,000. Times like this I miss my original UID even more than I miss my usual username.

I agree. I switched from Verizon to Cingular a couple of years ago because I had to have one of those new RAZRs. I loved the phone, but hated the service, and actually paid the early termination fee to go back. Now Verizon had RAZRs also, so even though I'm about as big of an Apple fanboy as they get, I will wait until they have their version of the iPhone before I get one.

At least that's what I keep saying to myself...

For a long time, every discussion started with at least one post with:
    - First Post!
    - frist post!
    - FP!!!11!1one!!1
or some other variant thereof, with not much else, such as any contribution to the discussion. This quickly got old, so now any post of this nature with nothing funny or insightful along with it quickly gets an OT. I guess in this case the moderator decided that instead of calling the poster distracting (OT), he wanted to call him an a**hole (flamebait).

As long as browsing the web with Windows is as safe as having unprotected sex with a different partner every day and 80-90 percent of surfers are doing it, I feel pretty safe browsing with a Mac and some common sense.

Although there is that "less malware, viruses, botnets ... good for the whole internet" point to be made if the vast majority of surfers weren't using a single-user desktop OS wearing ill-fitting big-boy pants.
