  1. How amusing! on Economist's Take On Open Source Development · · Score: 1

Ok, so let me get this right. The American goverment is going to help provide opensource software to help itself save money........wouldn't this open source software also be able to be used by any other goverment?
Not really into economics but if all the goverments are able to use the software that you paid to make and they didn't, where's the saving?

  2. This might just be a good idea! on Slashback: DRM, MPAA, ADSL · · Score: 1

Has anyone set up a mail server that you can; 1)Log into 2)Set up an email account 3)Tick a series of concerns that you wish to protest against 4)Have them send out emails using your address to the politicians/companies involved. 5)Get a weekly update of news, eg replies, new concerns you may want to be a part of. This wouldn't be spam as it was with your permission and it would be easy to do and keep track of for the average joe. Good idea/Bad Idea.....Got a better one?

  3. Re:New Zealand and Novel? on Novell to Release 20% of Their Employees? · · Score: 1

Where's New Zealand......oh hold on I live there.

IRD (Inland Revenue Department) is thinking about switching over to Novell with Linux desktops as far as I know. Some of the other departments run under Novell at the moment, Unitec New Zealand (a quasi university) runs Novell with XP Pro on the desktops and teach's Novell Netware in their Network Admin and Support course.

  4. What about our brains? on The RIAA's Halloween Tricks · · Score: 1

I get the feeling that in fifty years time the RIAA will have had enough successful court cases and laws behind them to reveal their true intent, the restriction of copyrighted materials within our minds. Imagine how many times you would see a movie, hear a song if it was the first time every time. Sony's already at work with their root-kit :).

Its even better than that. If it is intelligent design, and Birdflu mutates into an pandemic, then the designer is attacking us and we should kill it.
