I recently set up a sony blueray disc player for a friend of my sister's, which can stream netflix. In order to activate it, you have to agree to an eula from sony, register the device for streaming through sony, agree to a sony tos, *THEN* you can activate the device through netflix. Once you do, the netflix experience is lacklustre, having super teeny tiny cover art thumbnails, and a terrible search experience from the remote.
Anything from Sony is absolutely insane, go with an LG Bluray player, it works, it's easy to use, and it gets regular updates from LG. Hell, it even has an app store, the apps suck, but it has an app store.
That would be VERY stupid, also they wouldn't take it - they'd want to make sure none of it was sabotaged. (As we've done several times with commercial gear when the Soviets would buy it through 3rd parties)
3rd party being the important distinction between the US selling the Soviets sabotaged parts from a US vendor vs the US selling sabotaged equipment directly.
The US sells a ludicrous amount of military gear to other countries, if other countries had to worry about the equipment being sabotaged then there would be no sales.
If I buy an item, and it has more than two features that I want I am going to be pissed right the fuck off if I have to choose later between the two features because I can only keep one. I bought them both, I should be able to use both unless otherwise compensated.
back when all they had was a gun and a baton they tended not to pull a weapon unless you did first. we've seen this now with pepper spray, tazers, etc. the less lethal they are the more quickly they get pulled out.
You must be talking about how it was in the UK or something, because here in the states they used to use bullets to break up riots, protests and strikes in the early 1900's. Back before there were non-lethal alternatives lethal methods were used, extensively.
It's the peripheral stuff. The design of an antenna. The ingredients in the paint. Some cleverly designed duct in the exhaust system.
Per wikipedia they specifically did not do some cleverly designed duct in the exhaust system specifically so that if it, make that when, it fell into enemy hands that they wouldn't have much to work with.
It really does make sense for us to build these things as an item that will fall into enemy hands, after all we have been losing drones behind enemy lines since at least 1971.
it's a computer flying a pretty basic aircraft with some satellite comms.
That isn't a bad description of the Predator which I am fairly sure they have a half-dozen or so at this point, but this is a flying wing design whose specifications have not been released to the public yet.
Considering that the crown of their air force is a copy of a plane the US developed in 1961 I doubt that they can clone the most advanced drone we have.
And if local LEO asked ICE "Hey while you got that thing up there protecting us from illegal aliens from Canada would you mind checking out these rustlers since you have nothing better to do?"
That is why AT&T is going to pay them around 3 Billion in compensation.
I don't see how he thinks by changing his name is going to have any affect on Facebook's legal people.
Advertising. If it wasn't for the name change no one would have heard about the lawsuit and no one would have gave a shit if they did hear.

I can easily imagine the size of a cargo container. I cannot easily imagine your example.
More people come in contact with cargo containers on a regular basis than do people creating various size pools.

Rather than a crowbar to pry open the trunk, instead they use a dent puller to remove the trunk lock.
It is a lot harder to sell a laptop covered in stickers and scratches than it is to sell a laptop that is in mint condition.
It might not look professional, but that is kinda the point.
A $200 linux box isn't running on a cell processor which is what many people who give a shit about the other OS were after.
What is the next cheapest device that you can buy and load your own OS on that uses the cell processor?

Just because the engine in my car wasn't advertised as a feature I would be pretty pissed if it was removed after I bought it.

At least in the US high speed lead used to be used in the early 1900's to break up protests, riots, and strikes.
So that you don't hit people you don't mean to.
I'm thinking more along the lines of sunglasses that work specifically at the frequencies put out by this device.
Considering no other non-lethal has this range, and it is to be deployed by the military, yes this is an alternative to a bullet.
Yes, point lasers at me and blind me. That's really healthy
Although I am pretty sure this goes against a Geneva convention this is healthier for you than high speed lead.

Goes above DHS, it's our congress critters at work.

Police helicopter vs unmanned drone
So you are ok with being spied on as long as it's a real person doing it with their eyes as opposed to being spied on by a flying video camera?
Lots of military gear makes its way to civilian police, that is pretty normal.
The time to freak out is when they get armed.
I know you have probably been told that geeks don't get laid your entire life. It's a lie. If you got out more you would realize that.
What the cartels really need in the pot department is a machine that can separate the marijuana plant into hemp, leaf, bud, and seed.
The hemp and seed could be sold legally, the leaf could be sold off as feed, and the bud would of course be sold in the black market.
