Since the investments are so great NASA makes damn sure that things are going to work.
Their failures are spectacular and sometimes fatal. And too many big ones would be fatal to the agency.
Science is still being done with the current crop of rovers. Its nice, safe, and a success every single day its still being done.
If NASA dropped a new, bigger, better rover on the planet it would overshadow the current success. And if it failed, would people still be excited about the little rover that could?
There are UN resolutions prohibiting people from colonizing Antarctica, that doesn't prevent us from putting scientific outposts on Antarctica, which is what we would be putting on Mars.
The bitter north has been colonized by man in cases where there are economic reasons for being there and so far Mars doesn't seem to have any unobtainium to make it worth our while.
Do you know if that actually is something that monks still do?
I would assume that the process of manually copying manuscripts started to taper off when the printing press went into operation, let alone now with digital copying processes.
The best way to do that would to slipstream your drivers into your install disk.
I've used nlite to slip in my nvidia raid drivers. You can use it for more than just raid so that you have a damn near up to date computer straight out of install.
Got fired from Dell long, long time ago for surfing information regarding Everquest, excessively.
Any non-work internet use CAN put you at risk of being fired. I don't have to worry as much about it where I am now, but I make sure that my extra-curricular internet usage is none of my bosses business.
I ain't looking to get rich off of a class action lawsuit, but the recent settlements have not only not been any sort of punishment, they have actually been very beneficial to the ones breaking the laws.
Last I checked every MMORPG runs on PC, with a few on MACs also, but I can't think of a single MMORPG that works on consoles.
The MMORPG genre is pretty damn big at this point. Since you blog this stuff, why do you think that MMORPG's have not moved to include consoles?
PC's have more than just horsepower going for them.
NASA does have research stations on Antarctica some of them with the express purpose of training for off world missions.
We have had a station on the south pole since around 1960, so close to 50 years we've had a base on the South Pole.

You know what they say.
Rules are made to be broken.
Also, this is the beginning of their research, I'm sure that making them UV resistant is going to be a phase of their research.
Pot, aka Marijuana. One of the most useful plants on the planet, of course its going to Mars with us.
Very glad you could point that out to us Mr. Trout.

Wonder if they may accidentally include manuscripts that conspiracy nuts think the Vatican has that the Vatican denies having?
I have no idea which manuscripts those would be.
Pay Apple for patent infringement while they are a competitor, or license patents from a client that may block the infringement charges.

You can also use it on older windows OS's, I used it on my win2k disk so that if I install it again I don't need to use floppies to start it off.
If you work in a call center and it is not during one of your breaks, yes.
Would you give the money back to those thieves?
I say let him keep it and put it to good use, perhaps by going after those who gave it to him.

I'm sure IT was well aware of the situation by the time the hard drive was full.
Who watches the watchers? Ceiling cat does.
Any non-work internet activity is risking ones job.
The biggest issue regarding our rights is that the executive branch has completely took over the judicial branch.
The judicial branch needs to start tossing those abusing power in prison instead of continuing to give them a free pass.
When criminal after criminal accuses you of brutality/rape/robbery/false arrest I can see why cops may defend each other.
I believe its a "crying wolf" issue mainly.
They are not, but think about what that settlement was for them.
A coupon for an amount that is not the full price of an album.
Supplying a down loadable album that only cost them bandwidth.
The reason that they no longer have rootkits on the CD's is due to laws that they violated, not the class action lawsuit.
I ain't looking to get rich off of a class action lawsuit, but the recent settlements have not only not been any sort of punishment, they have actually been very beneficial to the ones breaking the laws.
Case in point, the Sony Rootkit debacle.

Oh Boy! $7.50 coupon and the ability to download one album once.
How in the hell is that a punishment for them?
Then how about the big class action lawsuit regarding price fixing CD's.
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,115443,00.html
Yes, they gave out checks for $13.86 , but they never admitted guilt, and the price of CD's never went down. The price fixing is still going strong.
Class action lawsuits no longer provide a reasonable threat against anti-consumer practices. You pinhead.
Yea, Sony might just offer 2 bucks off a game. That will teach them.
Recent class action lawsuits have been nothing but a money grab for the lawyers involved with absolutely no regard to the clients.
I thought that was what they were saying.
As you state they have access to some heavy computation, they are just asking for fresh ideas on how to use it.
but, but the future runs on dreams.
Continue on the Silliness!
Even better is nouning the verbs.
What the fuck does that mean?
With everyone saying ARM is so efficient how are we to know that Google is not investing in ARM to make more energy efficient ARM based servers?
A quick google on the subject brings up many other testing that ranks norton below the ones I mentioned.
So it would all boil down to whom you believe, who is the least beholden to their advertisers?
And Norton and McAfe spend TONS on advertising.
