You expect Latin to evolve in the same way English evolves?
I expect Latin to stay the same, but someone along the way went and tried to translate some latin to english, and they failed. So now there is an English phrase that has a meaning that does not match up to the words used. I expect people to re-evaluate what things that were done in the past to see if they match up with the present or the future.
The whole "begs the question" debate is that many people want to use the phrase literally, while others have attached a very weird meaning to that collection of words. Is there any wonder why there is confusion?
So the only way to understand why "begs the question" does not mean "raises the question" is because of how someone in history mis-translated the original latin?
Rather than complain about the current usage of "begs the question" how about re-translating "petito principii"?
Hasn't Avast always protected against rootkits? I have used that program to clean off quite a few of my co-workers computers, there have been no re-infections.
I don't know what the authors problem is. With Avast the first time you install it you don't have to register, eventually you'll have to register, but that is not for a few months. After that you will have to re-register something like every 6 or 9 months. Hell, its not like you even have to give them valid information.
The destroying the original part might get you in trouble with the law, but you could probably get away with the "intergalactic money transfer". The fees of which would be um out of this world.
The problem is the lack of processing in this country.
Kinda like how the Middle-East was buying petroleum products from the US because we had the refineries. We could mine the hell out of the minerals, but if we can't process it someone else will be getting the profit.
If Microsoft made computers you would have a point.
I guess your point may have been that Microsoft only made software that works with their operating system? If so, that would also have been slightly incorrect in that Microsoft does put out a version of Office for Macs. They don't do much beyond that for other operating systems so you would have been close.
Slashdot brings in geeks from all realms. Some may be smart in one area, but clueless in others with no real knowledge of a subject. Even to the point of "Hey, anyone mind helping me understand this issue?".
I should have re-read the original post on this thread, the original poster was an idiot, but even so telling him to google it would do nothing, especially in this case since he has already used PhysX in games and was mainly stating that he saw no point.
My reply was mainly a knee-jerk against the lmgtfy posts, didn't really fit this thread though.
I think it makes you look like a dipshit everytime you provide a link.
You do not provide any sort of answer, and you assume that the person did not already google it.
So lets assume that the person did google this, and did not find an answer that helped him understand the issue. Wouldn't a good next step be to ask others for help? Is Slashdot not a good place to ask the question?
Actually this sounds fairly familiar, there are strong parallels between this and AMD's issue with Intel.
Nvidia is using their marketshare to push forward their software that can only run on their cards by paying companies to use it. If the developers are using Nvidia's solution then they are not using the competitors.
Come up with something that uses solar, ponies, or solar ponies and they might bite.
And then you'll have the animal right activists complaining.
You can go into your account settings and set it to not show you his submissions.
I would not be surprised if they keep a metric of who has been blocked the most.
I have no doubts this will be overturned on appeal.
Not just because Ryobi has lots of money to toss at this, but because all of their competitors are going to be afraid of similar lawsuits.
Which, if true, makes it odd that this new method is unsupported for all guest OSes other than XP, doesn't it?
Here, this may answer your questions and get you on the right path.

Probably occurred in much the same as it did for Dell. Someone went and used a production computer for personal use.
You would figure that all the computers on the factory floor would be locked down tight.
I don't know, but I bet it begins with social networking applications.
Probably the best way to hide a bot-net on a phone.

Well, except for the whole razor-sharp-jaggies-that-never-get-worn-down-by-weather property
Its not all that different than many materials man has used over the centuries to create concrete with.
Here's one example. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pozzolana
Do you get a paper check from your employer?
We do use direct deposit a lot here in the US, but some people just prefer checks.
Just because checks are available it does not mean that the other options are not available.
I thought it was because check fraud is hilariously easy to catch?
Wow.
I'm sure they are devastated to loose the business of one so lazy.

I just installed version 5, absolutely no issues.
Sounds to me what they are saying is that he is talking to different organizations that may help pay the way for his invention to make a moon-base.
It was worded oddly.
I can say bad idea, but I do not think this is a bad idea.
Concrete dust has many of the properties of lunar dust. We know we will have to find a way to build with it if we are going to make a moon-base.

Has a major player like Google ever completely abandoned a country before?
It should be interesting to see what kind of effect this has on Google, I doubt there will be a major change in China over this.
It is the way its being done that is questionable, not that it is being done.
Use of market share as a marketing tool is completely legal and common as dirt.

Excellent reply.

As in it just was not feasible?
That is the way things work in research isn't it? You make lots of discoveries, but not all of them are useful.
Is this technology going to be feasible? No one knows yet.
